Cat Fashion at the Los Angeles Feline Film Festival

Lindsay and Sabrina

It’s 10 pm on Sunday evening. Three hours past Friskies o’clock. Marcy stares at the front door, glowering and whipping her tail back and forth.

At 10:05 pm Cynthia bursts through the door with a bagful of cat loot and an iPhone full of pictures.

Cynthia (hysterically):  Marcy! The Los Angeles Feline Film Festival was even more awesome than expected!

Marcy:  Oh yeah.

Cynthia:  Yeah! It was… epic! Just…epic!

Cynthia hurriedly fumbles for her phone while talking a mile a minute.

Cynthia:  OMG. You should have seen all of the cat outfits. I was going to do a proper post first about the festival but I can’t wait. Let’s look at all the cute cat attire right now.

Cynthia drops her phone.

Cynthia:  Oops.

Marcy:  How about you get a grip. How about you feed me first.

Cynthia:  Here – snack on this. Cynthia throws Marcy a treat packet. Natural Balance was there handing out yummy cat food samples.

Cynthia retrieves her phone and enthusiastically shoves it in Marcy’s face.

Cynthia:  Check out. These. Awesome Cat Outfits!

Cynthia:  Everyone was so cute. And so friendly. And so … happy.  Maybe instead of giving people Prozac, doctors should prescribe Puddy Cats!

Marcy rushes to hide under the couch.

Cynthia:  What’s wrong?

Marcy:  Those are the scariest pictures I’ve ever seen.

Cynthia:  Really? Why?

Marcy:  I thought you were alone in your insanity.

Cynthia:  Nope, Marcy. There are thousands and thousands and thousands of us crazy cat people out there. I think we are going to make the world a happier place. One cat at a time.

Marcy:  And armed in cat ears?

Cynthia:  Yes!

Marcy:  Oh my gatos.

What great pictures!! These people put together some wonderful outfits!!! Was Jackson Galaxy there?

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch September 24, 2014 at 7:41 pm

Thank you! No, Jackson Galaxy was not there but Kate Benjamin of Haus Panther was. She has a great site – http://www.hauspanther.com – and co wrote the book, Catification, with Jackson Galaxy. It's coming out in a few weeks and I will have a post about it. Kate was so sweet!

I had no idea there was so much cat clothing out there. I especially liked Erika's bag. Not much in the way of dude duds, though. I guess there are more crazy cat ladies than guys.

You look very innocent, Cynthia, standing between Pussy and Pooch.

It must have been tons of fun. Wish I had been there.

It was tons of fun! You know, there were a lot guys wearing cat tshirts but the girls were so much cuter and creative that I focused on them. I have some guy cat tattoo pics and and really hot guy carrying around two cute kittens that I will post later this week.

This looks like so much fun! I already found a dress I want, the navy one with cats. Did you happen to find out where Sylvia bought it? The two groups of girls had fun style, one group with the pretty makeup which included cat whiskers. Also the group where one had a cute leopard flip skirt and another girl had a cute coral cat sweatshirt.
Off topic, but I forgot to mention in my reply to your comment today that I look forward to buying the Trader Joe's cheesecake next time I go there.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Stacey

Hi Stacey! I didn't write it down which means Sylvia must be one of the ones who got the dress years ago. Most people seemed to be wearing cat stuff that they had purchased over the years. The coral shirt was from either H&M or Forever 21 and she got it 2 years ago. That was the one I wanted!
I also have a recipe for pumpkin cream cheese pie that is easy and so yummy. I should do a post on that. Mmmm…

LOVE seeing the festival. And all of the outfits! I love what you ended up wearing. I hope you had a fun time. I also hope it ended up not being insanely hot. I have the funkiest sunburn from Saturday. Thankfully the next week is beautiful weather! Not quite fall weather, but I am excited about the 80s nonetheless. I cannot wait for your next post about the festival. I could not have seen those cages of kitties. Did a lot of them get adopted? I would have wanted to take them all home.

      Thank you, Jenni!

I was freaked out about the cats too but you know – the rescue organizations that were there are top notch. Really, the best. Each one had loads of volunteers helping out and those kitties in cages are the lucky ones. They are the ones that WILL get a home for life. I used to not understand that – but since being in rescue over the past few years it had finally sunk in that those cats in those cages are a good thing. Also, they go back home to foster families or the rescue facilities and do not spend their days in cages. The cages are just for the adoption events.
I was there all day and it was pretty hot. Luckily there was a museum across the street with air conditioning that we would go to throughout the day. We got so lucky that the festival was last weekend when temps were over 100.

So you like my Marcy shirt?! Yay! I'll have them up soon! Thank you for asking!

I'm 2 behind on my Marcy posts!! How did this happen?? Looks like you had a great time at the festival and saw lots of cool people…I'm interested in knowing what this "Pussy and Pooch" is. Also, I LOVE the Marcy custom shirt! Your logo looks so cool and modern…like something Marimekko would design.

Pussy and Pooch is a retail store/holistic vet/dog training/delivery service/spa kind of place here in So Cal. I have not checked them out yet even though it looks like they have a store only a few miles away. I need to do that soon. Here's their online link – https://www.pussyandpooch.com/

My logo was done by Joanna of Rainbow of Crazy. She has an Esty shop with these adorable prints of a black cat flying away on a red balloon. I have one of those prints and loved it so much I asked her to do my logo. thank you so much – i love it too!

I actually LOLed at the bit where Marcy is aghast that others share in your obsession! What an awesome event, and thanks for sharing the photos! Seeing people's feline fashion interpretations is so cool. I love that people dressed in the theme from head to toe. I especially loved the cat ear hairdo's and headbands. Your outfit is darling, and I especially love that you're wearing your blog banner. What a fun post about such a fun festival. What a cool way to find cat-loving kindred spirits. Glad to hear there was such a positive energy at the event!
