Dear Marcy, Fashion

Dear Marcy: Can I Wear Striped Toe Socks With My Flip Flops?

IMG_4591

It’s another Dear Marcy! Ask her anything and hope she doesn’t answer…

Dear Marcy,

How do you feel about striped toe socks with flip flops?

I live in Texas and this combo is perfect when it’s 30 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees in the afternoon. Plus, it lets me wear my flip flops all year round as I have winter, spring, and summer versions. See below.

By the way, all the ladies at work think this is fab. I get lots of compliments on my socks and flops.

Sincerely,

P

Dear P,

I am sorry for your loss.

Of your mind.

Obviously, your loss is so great that even your co-workers have given up on you.

By the way, if you are not quite sure, please take note whether they nervously smile, nod, and walk away quickly when you heedlessly barrel towards them in your striped toe socks and flip flops.

Nothing creates panic in oneself as an obliviously insane person careening into one’s social orbit. People tend to think the insanity is catching and flee.

Ok so I know this “trend” is popular amongst the teenagers.

But, please consider if it’s worth halting your career mobility to be comfortable or trendy or fun. Or whatever it is you think you are doing.

In other words, put on some stylish shoes like the rest of the world and deal with the blisters and sore ankles at home. Not only will your coworkers stop thinking about the emergency straight jacket hanging in the closet down the hall – you may even get a raise.

You’re Welcome,

Marcy

=^..^=

Thanks for the very considerate advice Marcy but I’m afraid that now I’m excited that knee-high, striped toe socks exist and that I am as trendy as a teenage girl. I better get some Justin Bieber and One Direction posters on my bedroom wall stat!

Patty, are those really your feet?
Do you really wear those to work?
Marcy’s reply is a little harsh (but quite funny). I know you are of sound mind, just slightly obsesed with happy feet. Hope it was casual Friday
      Love,

i think you’ll find that the white straight jacket will go very well with knee high striped toes socks and flip flops.

Ha! It wasn’t me this time!

Also, I like the one in the middle, socks + open toe.
    You do you, Patty!

Poor Aunt Patty, Marcy let you have it! Well…it’s nice to know that there’s no nepotism on the blog!

Ha! Yes, and I won’t be bringing any extra Friskies cans next time I visit.

Bahahaha! Two of my fashion peeves in one: toe socks AND socks with sandals. I feel like this post was made for me to have a good laugh. I’m sort of amazed that the tween girls are making the style look quirky and cutesy though. Maybe P isn’t the only one losing her mind here… lol But if I’m wearing tulle skirts and hair bows, who am I to judge?! I guess that’s why Marcy is the critic and not me. Have a great weekend!

Yay! Sometimes the think the only reason I blog is to hopefully make everyone laugh. I think tween girls can do anything because they do it with such enthusiasm and glee. And anyway, tulle skirts and hair bows are tres chic! Tulle skirts will around for a long time I think – I just saw that Anthropologie added more colors to their tulle skirt collection.

Oh Marcy. You make me laugh. But think about the Japanese in the, uh, Samurai era, they wore their tabi socks (one-toe-sticky-out-socks) with sandals and even platform sandals! So this toe sock and flipflop trend might even be seen as reinventing a classic? 😉

The toeless ones are not so bad, they’re cool in a way, imho, reminding me of fingerless gloves ^_^. A pair for the hands, a pair for the feet.

Love the idea of a matching pair for the hands AND feet!! You may be on to something! Not sure Marcy would approve though. I won’t tell her. lol
