Cynthia in her gauchos, circa 2001 |
Cynthia enters purposefully and determinedly and ready to make a Fashion Declamation.
Cynthia: Okay, Marcy. We won the war for bell bottoms. I have been wearing bells since 1992, risking ridicule, disdain, mockery, and family members who refuse to walk down the street with me. But now, bells are back. And they are cool. Success. I will now do the same for … gaucho pants.
Cynthia takes a bow in her gaucho pants.

Cynthia in her Anthropologie gauchos, circa 2007 |
Marcy: I’ll go alert Vogue.
Cynthia: Please do!
Marcy: I’m sure they will want to do a fashion spread with a delusional forty something non celebrity cat lady.
Cynthia (continuing with her declamation): I will wear my gauchos every single day until I see them mass marketed by every single retailer from Old Navy to Nordstrom.
Marcy: I’m sure you’ll be famous.
Cynthia: But first I want you to pose for a picture with me in my gaucho pants.

Marcy: No.
Cynthia: C’mon. I need a picture with my Marcy. Look at the camera.
Marcy: I refuse.

I love your Gaucho pants! I have some similar ones from Anthropologie around the same time. I love them! Your shirt is perfect. I love how you and Marcy are wearing the same colors. Just don't tell her that. She will run in denial. And don't tell Penelope Kitten. She might get jealous.
I also love your sandals and the necklace that matches it in the blue outfit. That green belt is fabulous! I want to steal your whole outfit!
Jenni
Thank you, Jenni! I promise not to tell Marcy or Penelope anything. They are so sensitive and moody.
The belt and the sandals and the shoes and the dark gauchos are all from Anthro. I want to see your gauchos! I bet you have some cute styling tips for them!

You are so NOT in your forties! I don't believe it! (If so, we should start marketing kitties as anti-aging therapy.) I would've said early thirties/ late twenties…but good for you! And tell Marcy that all cat celebrities have to be quirky…I mean look at Jackson Galaxy…would you walk down a dark alley with him if you didn't know him from TV? I really like the outfit with the darker pair…you look very Anthro…you just need to be in a corn field somewhere with the sun setting behind your shoulder 🙂
Oh my gosh – kitties as anti-aging therapy! Genius! We'll make a mint if we can figure out how to do that!
I like your idea of the corn field. I really need to branch out with the outfit backdrops. Yours are always so gorgeous. We did try to go outside yesterday for the photos but the wind was blowing so strongly it was just one more thing to have to deal with. I hate hair in my face!!!

I love the shirts, the shoes, the accessories, the glasses and cuddly Marcy, but I can't find a way to love the gauchos. I would have to cut the inseam and turn them into a skirt.
i don't like them either. cindy is nuts. can i be your kitty? you seem to have better fashion sense.

MEWHAHAHA Marcy you are the awesomest ladycat! You do remind me of my Phoebe but after reading today's post I realized there's a lot of you that reminds me of another one of my fur kids at the Bridge, Duchess.
Duchess was true royalty and carried herself as such, demanding to be carried up and down the stairs instead of walking them herself, grabbing food she wanted off your plate, and giving me the same attitude when I asked for her opinion or cooperation.
I love your Mom's Anthropologie gaucho pants and kitty tee! And I am as shocked as so many others that your Mom is slightly past forty- I thought she looked younger than me and I'm 38! You and Mom make a lovely pair, a family that has good looking ladies.
thank you! i have been telling cindy for years that i am a french princess. she likes to insist that i came form a shelter but i know she's wrong.

I have to admit, I was frightened at first. Pamela Sue Martin did make them cool in 77 and they made me feel cool when I was her version of Nancy Drew for Halloween. But since then I have not glanced there way.
Anyway, then when I saw your whole outfit I was pleasantly surprised. You really made these gauchos work and I think all three of the items you added brought the whole outfit together. The pointed toe kitten heel, kitty tee shirt and the little black cardigan puts it all in good proportion. I like the brown shoe and brown necklace with blue tee too. Was that picture taken in 2007 or were you styling to look like 2007?
Marcy looks adorable and loving in these photos. She is a cutie.
Have a nice evening,
Stacey
Oh thank you, Stacey! I do love my gauchos and have since I wore my first pair as t kid in the '70's. But I know that some people just hate them with a passion. The '70's were such a funny decade for fashion.
The photo was taken a few days ago but the pants are from 2007. I should be more clear!
I wish Marcy would take photos with me like your cats do! Can I trade her for one of yours?

Looks like Cynthia is rocking those pants! And Marcy got the attitude down!
Hi Hayley! Thank you! And thanks so much for stopping by! Oh boy – Marcy is a pro at being a diva. I've got the scars to prove it!

Marcy looks thrilled about this. Thrilled. But I think secretly she likes the gauchos. She has to. They're just adorable. I think you pull them off beautifully. They work really well on your frame and with your height. They might look like baggy 90's boy pants on me. lol Weekend jeans are equally disappointing for me. But I love me some flare jeans. And I will wear them so long as retailers keep selling them. My love of them began in middle school. And my love of them will die with me. Viva la flares!

You look HOT in your flare jeans, Liz! I hope flares don't go out of style for a looong time. Maybe they won't! Look how long skinny jeans are hanging around. There is hope I tell ya!
Viva la flares! (love that)
