Gorgeous Gift Cards At Anthropologie

Cynthia and her Anthropologie gift card
Hello Camera App filters used generously

Cynthia:  Yay! November is my birthday month and I am super excited to have received an Anthropologie gift card. And I have to tell you, it is the most adorable, most thoughtful gift card on the planet.

Take a look at this presentation!

Cynthia: And then, when you open it, voila –

Cynthia:  A cute little booklet! Love it!

Anthropologie doesn’t seem to send out our Birthday discounts in the mail anymore which is too bad because they were always as clever and as sweet as this gift card. But, I am happy to see that they are maintaining their quirkiness with the gift cards. It gives me hope that they still understand us longtime original customers.

Maybe someday Anthropologie will decide to go back to their roots instead of following the mass trends and fast fashion of the day.

Marcy (snorting): I doubt it. They’ve expanded too fast. You quirky librarian types with your penchant for embroidered well made detailed clothing isn’t their target market anymore.

Cynthia:  Ah well… I can dream.

Marcy:  Speaking of dreaming, what will you get with your card and 15% discount?

Cynthia (excitedly):  That’s the fun part! Should I get this tulle skirt?

Cynthia:  Or this coated denim moto jacket?

Marcy:  You’re going for a biker ballerina look? I don’t think that’s wise at your age.

Cynthia happily paces the room thinking about how to spend her gift card and ignoring Marcy’s wise cracks.

Cynthia:  Or – I could save it for the end of the month for Black Friday sales and get some blouses and sweaters! Or… or… or… I don’t know! The possibilities are endless.

Marcy:  Well don’t think about it too hard. If your brain blows a gasket who will feed me Friskies?

Happy Birthday!!! Marcy should at least be nice to you on this day. I vote for the skirt!!! That is a very cute gift card, I hope I get one on my birthday too 😉

Thank you! Marcy gave me a back massage! Not sure about the skirt now. A dress I was lusting after on ModCloth but sold out just popped up on Anthro's new arrivals. The problem is that I have no where to wear it. But maybe who cares and I'll wear it while watching TV. I mean, it's my party and I'll buy a dress if I want to!

      Do it!!!

I vote for the jacket. Get a tattoo and nose ring and change your whole image. Maybe the scary biker vibe will intimidate Marcy and she'll be nicer to you.

I think Marcy would stop speaking to me if I got a tattoo and/or a nose ring. LOL!

Happy Birthday!!! Wait. I want to say it again. Happy Birthday, Beautiful!

You might still get the perk in the mail. Mine came really late in the month, much longer than the email. I love both of your picks! I would definitely wait for Black Friday just to see what happens. There might be a better percentage off (as in year's past) than the birthday discount. I like the jacket the best. Although, that plaid blazer that you loved and is now sold out would be my first choice if you could find it. You did like that one right? I seem to recall it, but perhaps I just thought it would be awesome on you when I saw it.

I hope you had a fantastic birthday!

      Thank you, Jenni!!!!

I am so fickle. I go crazy for something and then after a while I just don't care about it. That plaid blazer was one of them. Same with Lavendel. Although there are still a lot of those dresses hanging around I would consider it if it was $50. My only worry with waiting until Black Friday is that sometimes the discounts can't be layered and then I miss out on the bday perk.
What to do … what to do…

    Happy birthday, Cynthia!!!

Roxy has some interesting info about Black Friday on EA. If it's true, I'd say wait…

I really love that tulle midi skirt. Something about a big slouchy sweater and a midi skirt seems very appealing to me right now.

thanks for the tip, Liana! I checked out Roxy's post and just like last year, the birthday discount does not work for Black Friday. I want to change my birthday month to May!

Love the idea of a slouchy sweater with the tulle. So romantic!

Lol…that IS an adorable card! Hmm… I wud say to go with the jkt bc it's more useful, but the skirt is so cute 🙂 biker ballerina…yea, that is a tough look to pull off…lol

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch November 12, 2014 at 8:40 pm

I am so indecisive I will probably get neither! But maybe the skirt… no… the jacket… lololol

I hope you have a nice Birthday with a delicious cake.
That is such a nice picture of you and the cute card. I was going to suggest you go for that polka dot dress you liked but it sounds like it's not as exciting now. I like the skirt better than the leather jacket. It looks just like my Isaac Mizrahi skirt that I bought when he was designing clothes for Target.
    Happy birthday,

"They've expanded too fast. You quirky librarian types with your penchant for embroidered well made detailed clothing isn't their target market anymore."

Sometimes I get this impression, too. I feel like we're always going on and on about wanting the "old Anthropologie" back over on EA. I love their feminine, vintage-y pieces that feel one-of-a-kind. They feel special. Romantic. Whimsical. All my favorite things!

And every so often, I come across a piece that still embodies all those things. Like that black tulle skirt, which I already picked up myself. I would love for you to gift it for yourself! We could do a collaborative post on how each of us style it. I think "biker ballerina" is the perfect theme! I have a pink moto jacket that's just itching to top this tulle wonder!

Happy Birthday Month! I hope it's full of magic and surprises! I miss the hand-crafted birthday cards too, but at least we still get the 15% off! I'm still a sucker for handmade, tangible treats. They feel more thoughtful and special, which is what we've come to expect from Anthropologie!

Thank you for the birthday wishes, Liz! I am so indecisive about the skirt and the jacket now. A collaborative post sounds like an awesome idea and now I am tempted. Hmmmm… maybe Anthro will have a skirt promotion next? You are so right that they still have some pieces that embody the "old" Anthro. I just wish there was more. Sigh…
