Hearts aren’t just for Valentine’s Day!…
(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy and Penelope Kitten getting more treats)
5pm. Two and a half weeks before Valentine’s Day.
Cynthia’s inbox is insanely inundated with Valentine’s Day themed newsletters.
She makes a decision, closes her computer, and heads into the living room where Marcy is having a standoff with a piece of carpet fuzz.
Cynthia: Since Valentine’s Day is coming up I thought we –
Marcy: No
Cynthia: No?
Marcy: I hate Valentine’s Day. It’s stupid.
Cynthia: Well, I know. But, I like hearts. So –
Marcy: I hate hearts. I want a dagger.
Cynthia: Marcy!
Marcy: What?
Cynthia: That’s… kinda violent.
Marcy: Exactly.
Marcy whips her tail back and forth.
Cynthia (proceeding cautiously): So… uh… I may also dislike Valentine’s Day … but…
Cynthia takes a step back.
Cynthia: I like hearts! And Etsy artisans have some lovely handmade heart items that can be worn and/or used all year long. Not just for Valentine’s Day! And best of all, you can buy these for yourself.
Cynthia: Aren’t these hearts adorable?
Marcy: I hate hearts.
Cynthia (exasperated): How can you hate hearts? There’s a heart on you!
Marcy: Who put that there? Get it off!

You should also break it to Marcy that there’s one IN her, and she kinda needs it. Even if it is cold and/or made of stone 🙂
It’s okay. Marcy has a heart. She just tries to hide it for some reason.

Those dark hearts silver rings are beautiful!
So’s the copper heart.
Even though, based on the title, I half expected to open the page and see hearts made from construction paper and doilies… 🙂
Fear not, Marcy — etsy has a heart ring with a dagger for you:

If people wearing their heart on their sleeve are said to be showing sappy emotions, are you, Marcy, showing hostility by wearing yours on your butt? It is pretty cute, you know.
I love the little heart rings. What does it mean to wear your heart on your finger?
it means you’re a sap.

I don’t think it means anything except that you like the design. 🙂

Oh my gosh, I love that copper heart ring! Or rather, I *heart* it. (groan). It would totally look good on you though!
I used to hate Valentine’s day, but then Victor and I had our first kiss on Valentine’s day – after watching a performance of MacBeth, no less! (They didn’t spare the fake blood, as I recall……) Victor even once played MacDuff – in his high school production of the Scottish Play! So it’s his favourite one by Shakespeare.
How did we get from Valentine’s day to MacBeth… well, he stabs King Duncan in the heart, I suppose…? Anyway, we never get each other gifts or anything like that, well except one year he bought me flowers. So we’re not that sappy…
sounds like my kind of play.

and btw, cynthia is an idiot. she is just seeing your comment now for some reason. xo
I also got sucked into the Etsy Valentine’s Day emailer. It started with cute hammered jewelry, hand-painted stationary, scented candles, heart-shaped succulent wreaths, etc. But I quickly tumbled down the rabbit hole into a weird, surreal world that led me to this: etsy.me/1TJz9Vm
Happy Valetine’s Day!
You’re welcome.
And, I’m sorry.
