Make a Point of it Skirt by ModCloth |
(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy getting more treats)
Cynthia: They’re baaaaaaack!
Marcy: What’s back?
Cynthia: Knee-length spring skirts. I thought we’d be wrestling with mid-thigh skirts forever. My knees were getting so embarrassed.
Marcy (shuddering at the thought of Cynthia’s knees): You think your knees were embarrassed, how about your cat?
Cynthia: Well, you and my knees can rejoice because knee-length skirts is where it’s at. The beige chevron striped skirt I am wearing here is from ModCloth.
Cynthia: It’s a cotton/linen blend. It sits at the waist and has pockets. It has a tendency to wrinkle (you know, linen) but not so much that I am put off by it. It’s super comfy, goes with everything and… it’s on sale for $34.99! Yeah, baby!
Cynthia performs a groovy skirt/sale disco dance while yelling “woot woot.” Much to Marcy’s disgust.
Cynthia (still grooving): Knee-length a-line skirts are always twirl-worthy and have a cool feminine 70’s vibe.
Marcy: If you start singing Andy Gibb songs I’m leaving.
Cynthia stops suddenly. She takes a deep breath. She looks at Marcy with a sappy smile.
And then…
She scoops up Marcy.
Cynthia (singing an Andy Gibb song): “I just want to be your everything…”
Marcy leaps off of Cynthia in a hissy fit and hides in the closet. She plans to stay there until Cynthia’s disco fever has ended.
Cynthia (calling after her): Fine, Marcy. I don’t need to disco dance when there are knee-length spring skirts to buy!
Woot woot!
Okay, Awesome Readers, join me after the jump break for some shameless shopping for the best knee-length skirts this spring!
Marcy hisses.

Pilcro Distressed Denim Midi Skirt at Anthropologie |
I tried this one on in the store. It runs a bit big and is quite heavy but it perfectly captures that “easy breezy Southern California in the ’70’s vibe” that is so popular right now. I am still thinking about this one.

I really like how this Leifsdottir skirt is light and romantic but also sexy. The shorter underskirt is very much on trend right now.

Mint is still in style this year! I like how the pleats start a little lower on the hip. Very flattering. Kate Spade New York ‘Garden Leaves’ Skirt

Someday I will be able to afford Kate Spade. Someday. In the meantime, I will just sit here and sigh longingly.

JCrew Collection Lace Circle Skirt |
So pretty. And so practical (it’s machine washable!). You could really spring -ify this with a white or pink or yellow top.
And now, I will stop staring at skirts or we will be here all day. Really, there are so many lovely ones out there. I’m so excited – I thought this trend would never come back. Woot woot!
Let me know if you are on board with this trend or will stick with the shorter lengths!

Great pics, good choice on that skirt and the potential denim. I was never on trend with short skirts in the first place, so I'm reporting that no knees or cats were ever harmfully embarrassed in the wearing. So, does Marcy always hate to be picked up, or just during disco numbers?
She hates it alllllll the time. If I've got her for longer than 4 seconds she panics and I'm the one who gets hurt. lol
I think if I could get a knee lift Marcy wouldn't be embarrassed. I wonder if there is such a thing?

I have that skirt in green from when Anthropologie had one.
For me, these skirts never go out of style. I just love skirts, all lengths except I gave up mini skirts about four years ago. I now have traded the mini for the maxi. The knee lengths have so many names. I tend to call them 50's style but there are the full, midi, circle. I love the 70's Disco styles too.
Check out MeTV reruns of Wonder Woman. Linda Carter's wardrobe is a dream! A lot of what I see you could wear today.
Have a nice evening,
Stacey
I haven't tried maxi skirts yet. They are all over the place too. I'm sure I will get into them as soon as they go out of style. Because that is what usually happens to me with trends.
I am going to check out Wonder Woman right now. Thank you for the tip. I remember watching it in the '70's and loving it. She was so smoking hot!

Oooh, I like the white skirt. Those definitely have a 70s feel! Super cute!
thanks!

Knee has been my only length since 1990 and yesterday the Huffington Post wrote "6 Reasons Gray Hair Is White Hot Again." Grannies are trending!
The chevron skirt my favorite.
Does that mean I should let my hair go gray and stop using Olay products?

Yay! Knee length skirts! Midis can be an awkward length on me, and I really prefer skirts that touch my knees, not hover above them, so this is great news for me! Your outfit is perfection. What a versatile skirt! I'm obsessed with my denim jacket lately, so I definitely love how it lends a casual vibe to this outfit. Overall, it feels contemporary but also has a vintage vibe with the skirt shape and open-toe sandals. I feel like this is something you could wear anywhere and everywhere.
I'm vowing to buy more skirts this year so I can mix and match them with different tops instead of wearing dresses all the time. I've picked up three already. Whoops? I have a white circle skirt, a black flouncy above-the-knee skirt with a thick white stripe, and a pleated cheerleader-looking skirt in black and dark blue. Woo hoo! So many possibilities!
The Shadow Stripe Skirt from Anthro is so pretty, but I feel like it's too similar to my Emeline Tulle Skirt with the ivory damask embroidery. The green leafy one with the buttons up the front has a great vintage vibe. Maybe after it goes on sale twice? lol And the hot pink eyelet. Good gracious, I love that one. Just $80 and it comes in a 14 and 16? I might just be popping into Nordstorm sometime soon!

Oh my gosh – I keep looking at the electric pink eyelet too!
Your skirts sound lovely! I can't wait to see how you style them. I am especially intrigued by your black and dark blue skirt. That color combo is so modern and somewhat edgy right now.
Yay for skirts! As for me – I need to wear my dresses more often and lay of the skirts. Funny how people gravitate towards one thing all the time! LOL
