Oh yes. These high-waisted flares are the best out there. Find out why

Cynthia:  As my longtime readers know, I love a good pair of flared jeans. They have been my favorite since I wore them as a kid in the ’70’s. In fact, I have never ever owned a pair of skinny jeans.

Marcy:  Never?

Cynthia:  Nope.

Marcy:  Ever?

Cynthia:  Nope.

Marcy:  Never ever… Ever?!!

Cynthia:  Okay now you’re just making fun of me.

Marcy:  This is old news. Why’s it warrant a blog post?

Cynthia: Because, Marcy,  I have found the absolute best pair of high-waisted flare jeans. The most flattering, most comfortable, most Jane Birkin-like pair of high-waisted flare jeans. The ULTIMATE pair of high-waisted flare jeans.

Cynthia bows.

Cynthia:  May I present to you… The Flea Market Flares from Madewell.

Marcy yawns.

Cynthia:  They are the prettiest shade of deep sky blue with the faintest hint of whiskering. They flare out fantastically. They are comfortable AND retain their shape. I mean how exciting is it to have a pair of jeans that don’t bag out after a couple hours of wear? They are … perfect.

I am never ever taking them off.

Marcy:  Never?

Cynthia:  Ever.

Marcy yawns again.

Marcy:  If you keep wearing the same version of the same outfit our readers are going to get bored. You need to wear something different. Something cool. Something dangerous. Well, dangerous for you at least.

Cynthia (suddenly intrigued):  Hmmm… Interesting… What do you have in mind?

Long pause while Marcy comes up with a cool clothing item that will scare the wits out of Cynthia.

Marcy:  Joggers!

Cynthia (suddenly scared):  Gasp.  Joggers?!

Marcy:  With… Stilettos.

Cynthia (suddenly terrified):  Gasp… Stilettos?!

Cynthia stares at Marcy aghast.

Marcy stares at Cynthia threateningly.

After a few moments of tense staring silence –

Marcy:  I. Dare. You.

Cynthia:  Gasp.

The fabulous Sheryl Luke of Walk In Wonderland

Marcy walks off to her sunspot, leaving Cynthia to wonder if she could ever pull off something so awesomely dangerous as a pair of joggers with stilettos and… maybe possibly… a crop top! Gasp!

You had me at “they retain their shape!” I have never owned a pair of skinny jeans either, they scare me. But I am so out of it that I didn’t know what Marcy was talking about when she said joggers. They look pretty cute!

You should try them on! I bet they’d look really cute on you!

I beg you, for the love of all that is holy… STEP AWAY FROM THE JOGGERS.
Just because something is trendy, does not make it attractive or a good idea.
Do you really want to wear the “trendy” version of what my mom and her old lady friends in South Florida wear? You know, those nylon sweatsuits with gold pumps? No, you do not.
Sometimes, I swear the fashion industry is pranking us, to see what stupid things they can get women to put on, and then they laugh behind our backs.
Meanwhile… you look so CUTE in your jeans and the little white top!
You don’t have to be dangerous; you can just accessorize differently!
    (Btw: groovy shoes… )
(Speaking of horrors, can we do a post on Danny’s this week??)

Yes! Excellent idea! I’ll take some photos!

Love the jeans, you look great.
The whiskering…did Marcy and Penelope take turns rubbing their faces on your new jeans?

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch August 4, 2015 at 8:36 pm

we can’t tell if you are kidding or not. about the whiskering that is. we will take it for granted that you think cindy looks great.

I haven’t read the post yet, but I have to say that your flares are AWESOME. I’m so jealous! (Ok, I’ll be back.)

I think you’d look fabulous in a pair of stilletos and joggers, but honestly your style seems more vintage than edgy. I bet you’ll look great in them, but won’t actully like wearing them. LOL Sheyl does look fantastic…so chic!

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch August 4, 2015 at 8:38 pm

Yup – I feel like it is something I think I would like but then will hang out forever in my closet because I will be uncomfortable wearing it and then it will go out of style. And after it goes out of style then I will love wearing it. Sometimes I feel like a very strange person. lol

You look great in the jeans. I too had a pair o’ flares in the 70’s-80’s…and I have to admit, I’ve never heard of joggers, so thx for pic. I like your flares WAY better.

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch August 4, 2015 at 11:07 pm

Aren’t flares just the best! Although the fact that no one seems to have heard of joggers is giving me hope that by the time everyone has heard of them and wearing them – I might not be so afraid of them! Woot woot!

I can see why you love those jeans! They look fantastic on you.

Sheryl looks awesome in that outfit pic but it’s definitely not something I could pull off.

I bet you could, Liana! You are super stylish!!

They are perfect! The perfect fit, the perfect wash, the perfect waist height, the perfect flare. They look so classic and so modern at the same time. Like you, I’m thrilled that flares are coming back. Flares were my initiation into dressing for the sake of fashion, fun, and enjoyment. It was the 7th grade, and I thought I was too cool for school.
