My Dress For The Golden Globes 2016. If I Were Going.

Aaaaand… awards season is upon us…

(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy and Penelope Kitten getting more treats)

Cynthia:  It’s that time of year when we become obsessed with pretty dresses over here at Marcy Very Much.

Marcy:  We start off strong and enthusiastic with the Golden Globes and fizzle out by the time the Oscars eventually air.

Cynthia:  By the end of February… well… we … we …

Marcy:  Oh just say it. By the end of February… we’re fatigued of frocks.

Cynthia:  But now… now we can’t wait to see what will come down the red carpet! Woo hoo! And now Marcy will do her best Joan Rivers impersonation again.

Marcy and Cynthia bow their heads for a moment of silence to honor Joan.

Cynthia:  So Marcy, what do you think of this dress I picked to wear if I were going to the Golden Globes?

Marcy pretends she is holding a microphone and talking to a camera on the red carpet.

Marcy:  And here comes Cynthia, creator of the fabulous feline media empire, Marcy Very Much, in a Pallavi Mohan gown.

The question is – is she wearing her grandma’s nightgown from 1971? Or, did she DIY her 1990’s cast-off goth dress with cheap plastic flowers from a Michaels craft store? In either case, someone cover up those elbows ’cause the bloom is off this flower.

Cynthia:  Awww… I thought it was so pretty. Well what would you wear?

Marcy:  This.

Cynthia:  Pretty. Very french.

Marcy:  Mais oui.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  we we we. i wanna play too!

Cynthia:  Sure! What would you wear to the Golden Globes, P?

Penelope Kitten scrolls through dresses on the computer.

penelope kitten: this one. totes.

Cynthia:  So you. That’s a Tracy Reese dress. She’s a cat lover, you know.

penelope kitten:  obvi.

Marcy impatiently goes back to pretending she’s hosting the live event.

Marcy:  Join us this Sunday, January 10th for our catty hits and misses of Golden Globes red carpet fashion where everyone will be wrong and I will be right.

=^..^=

Lovely choices. If Joan (RIP) were still with us she would have been tongue-tied watching the three of you sizzle, shred and burn the red carpet. And Anthropologie would have loved the publicity and given you free clothes for a year.

Now I am fantasizing about a years worth of free Anthropologie clothes!

I miss Joan too, so am glad you girls are carrying on the tradition, I got so I didn’t even watch the award shows anymore, just watched Joan to see what was up. And I like all of your dress picks, I liked Cynthia’s best.

Me too! I can never seem to sit through the actual awards shows. They are usually so long and boring and so self important. The dresses are way more fun!

    I vote for yours, C —
It’s gorgeous, and would look beautiful on you!
(Please wear different shoes, or at least let the hem line fall a bit longer on yours, though –)

Do you live blog the fashion/red carpet??

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch January 8, 2016 at 1:12 pm

I thought the same thing about the hem!
I live blogged the Golden Globes last year and it was pretty insane to do it. Kind of like improv writing and scavenger hunting for pics that show up in real time. It moved so quickly I don’t think I had time to breathe for about 4 hours. Here’s a link to the craziness https://marcyverymuch.com/fashion/live-blogging-2015-golden-globes-red/
I am thinking that I may simply post our hits and misses on Sunday early evening – just after the show starts. We’ll see. I’l decide by tomorrow. 🙂

I also love awards season with the parade of beautiful dresses and gowns. I didn’t watch the program last night, but I was up late scrolling through my IG feed and the stream of gorgeous gowns. Maybe I’m biased being a redhead, but I loved the blue gowns worn by Julianne Moore and Bryce Dallas Howard. It’s making me think I need to try more navy and midnight blues this year. Of your round-up, I especially love the pink, black, and white dress. Surprise, surprise! The bow tops it off to perfection!

You know, I did like Bryce Dallas Howard’s dress. She went to Neiman Marcus and bought it off the rack!
I just did a post about the awards show and fashion. I didn’t like it. I wasn’t wowed by the dresses. Maybe I’ve just seen too many red carpets in my life and I am at a point where I don’t find them thrilling anymore.
You should definitely wear midnight blue! It is a gorgeous color on you!!

    I love all the three dresses you guys picked, but Marcy’s one really blew me a way! So cute, so cool, so French! And you could so too get away with the first dress, it was MADE for tall, slim ladies like you!! I bet it costs like, a kidney though… ^^;

Oh yeah – over $1,000. It’s on the Anthropologie site. Marcy’s is much more reasonable at $250!

A THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A DRESS?!?!?!

I think my head just exploded.

Let’s just get you a nice long slipdress and hot-glue some flowers to it instead.
