Find out why Cynthia is switching allegiances. Could it possibly have anything to do with cat ears?…
(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy and Penelope Kitten getting more treats)
1pm. Thursday afternoon.
Cynthia is mooning over the new arrivals on the J.Crew site while Marcy relaxes in a sunspot.
Cynthia: Okay so I am completely over the moon about J.Crew’s new fall collection and as soon as I get $1,960.50 – the total cost of every item I want – I am going to buy all of it.
Sorry, Anthropologie, yes you were my first love, but you jumped off a cliff back in 2011 and over the last few years you have only sporadically managed to hang on to my attention.
J.Crew’s Fall 2016 collection is somehow quirky and preppy, eclectic and conservative, with a British sensibility while being ultimately All-American. Plus – oh my gato – Cat Ears!
Who can resist a colorful knee-length skirt with a cool tee and indigo topper?!
Or a deep green army jacket paired with denim?
Or dark kelly green gingham paired with navy crops, a cute bucket hat, and edgy loafers?!
Or a romantic ruffly top that isn’t too girly girl?!
Or super awesome wide leg crop jeans with blazers and … cat ears?!!
Cynthia: Can you resist any of this?
Marcy: Yes.
Cynthia: I wasn’t talking to you, Marcy. I was talking to our Lovely Readers. So Lovely Readers – can you resist any of this? Can you? And if so, how?
Because I can’t. I am in love. This catalog is my dream closet. Complete… with cat ears!
Marcy: Sounds like a personal problem.
Marcy goes back to relaxing in her sunspot. Cynthia continues to drool over J.Crew.

Ha! Well I believe that you would like all of this even if they didn’t have the cat ears. Now I’m excited to look at J. Crew. Even more so because I’m guessing their clothes are less expensive than Anthro. All of that stuff you picked out is super cute!
Sorry to disappoint but they are about the same price-wise. But, like Anthro wait for sales. JCrew has LOTS more sales than Anthro!

Cute stuff, Cynthia. I can picture you in all of it.
Happy dreams, Marcy. When you wake up be careful not to slip on Cynthia’s drool.
I take very long naps and since we are in Los Angeles – where there is an apocalyptic drought – it’ll be dry by the time I wake up.

Ya’ll are gross.

Marcy, I can totally see Cynthia in all these outfits. Are you gonna give her the money from your rainy day stash? (Since rain is not an issue right now).
no. i’m saving up for my trip to paris.

I’ve fallen off the Anthro bandwagon myself. Every now and then, I see an inspiring piece. But oh, it’s sold out in an XL already? Of course it is. I’ve never shopped with J Crew, but I’ve always associated it with the preppy and pedantic alternate universe that was Dawson’s Creek. My favorite high school TV show, by the way. I thought I was so poetic and above it all.
I’ll have to give J Crew a look. That floral knee length skirt is quite dreamy. And Oh My Gato, that headband! I’m following like a zillion children’s accessory brands on Instagram because I want to wear it all for myself. Flower crowns, felted wool bead necklaces, fabric hairbows, etc. Some day I’ll realize I’m thirty.
And then I’ll just keep liking and wearing what I want anyways! Boom! lol

LOL! Thirty is still very young! You are still a spring chicken. Oh – and when I was thirty I dyed my bangs and the bottom half of my hair pink. I was blonde at the time. I wanted to look like the lead singer of Berlin but pink instead of black. This was about 15 years before dying ones hair like easter eggs was popular.
Isn’t that skirt so Anthro? Looks like JCrew is changing its image a little!

J.Crew is back! I love the pinks and florals, etc. I too have been less interested in Anthropologie because they no longer have the vintage quirky style. I check out ModCloth new arrivals all the time and I’m buying more vintage. I also just purchased my first Trashy Diva dress on sale. They are known for 40’s and 50’s reproduction clothing. Check out the blog Silver Cat Tea Party. She is a cat person and dresses in such pretty repro dresses.
Hopefully Anthro will come back.

Ohhhh… thanks for the info, Stacey! I would love to see you in your Trashy Diva dress! Isn’t it funny how J.Crew is getting more quirky/vintage while Anthro is becoming more like the GAP! Yikes!

I’ve loved J. Crew since my older brother’s catalogues “somehow” ended up in my room and I learned more about the fabric they make men’s’ suits out of than I needed to know. Pretty preppy, yes! You will probably love Madewell, too!
hee hee hee! Love the preppy look! I have a couple of Madewell jeans and I do love them! They are made… well. lol
