Squid Balm: Vegan Beauty

Cynthia:  Squid Balm is “the bomb”, Marcy! Woot woot woot…

Squid Silk Conditioner Bar

Marcy:  What’s a squid balm? Can I kill it? Is it tasty?

Cynthia:  No! It’s a line of 100% Vegan beauty products. Soap. Moisturizer. Shampoo. Hair Conditioner. Made locally here in Los Angeles. The products are certified as cruelty free by Peta.

Marcy:  Oh – so this about your questionable quest to go vegan hippie. Face it, Cindy. You NEED antiperspirant. And eyeliner.

Cynthia: No, Marcy, it’s not like that. These products work. They work really well. Incredibly well. And because of that, I no longer have to buy face soap or hair conditioner from those big mean corporations who test on bunnies. And cats.Seriously, their Gentle Oil Cleanser for dry skin has changed my face. I have been using it everyday for almost 2 years.

Marcy:  Ummm. Yeah. I like oil on my baguette, Cindy. Or in the car.

Cynthia:  Okay, so it took me a few days to get used to using an oil instead of a soap. But Marcy, my skin is not Sahara Desert dry anymore – and I stopped breaking out. Which is a miracle really.

I use the Squid Silk to shave my legs. It also works as my new hair conditioner.

Marcy:  You sound like an ad.

Cynthia:  I don’t care! This is important to me!

My goal is to go Vegan. All around. In my food, clothing, and beauty products.

I won’t lie. I find it difficult. Some of my friends do not. They make the choice and just do it.

For me, not eating meat is easy. Giving up cheese is not something I am ready to do yet. I still like my BB Cream from Cover Girl and my eyeliner from MAC. I won’t buy a leather bag anymore but I will accept a watch with a leather band as a gift from my husband.

Maybe I’m a hypocrite. Or lazy. But for me, going vegan is small steps over time. And I get sooooo happy when I find a great vegan product that works. Like, really really really really REALLY happy!!

So what do you think, Marcy?

Marcy: Live mouse is my favorite dish. I’ll never give it up.

*Please note that this is not a paid product endorsement. I do not know Squid Balm personally and they had no idea I was going to write about them. i just really heart them

I love that you are on a quest for self improvement. I think it is so wonderful that you are on this journey. I love when a person sets a goal and then goes about achieving it. Plus, your skin looks great, so it must be working! And the name of the product is just rad! : )

Pioneer Woman had a blog post that reminded me of you today. It was about the wonderfulness of a good cat. It was cute. And true.
