Feline, mostly me, by penelope

mostly me, by penelope: cuddle college bound

penelope kitten

Penelope Kitten is sitting by the front door.

Her suitcase is packed.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  bye bye.

Cynthia (surprised):  What?! Where are you going?

penelope kitten:  nursing school.

Cynthia:  Nursing school? Why are you going to nursing school?

Marcy (disgusted):  She saw that Bored Panda post about the black cat who nurses sick pets back to health by cuddling with them and now she wants to be a Nurse Cat too. She’s such a do-gooder.

Nurse Cat from Poland

Nurse Cat

penelope kitten:  better to be a do-gooder than a no-gooder.

Marcy (scoffing):  Whatever.

penelpe kitten:  cuddles are needed. gotta go.

Cynthia:  Ah… but we’ll miss you. Hey! Maybe you could stick around for when one of us here gets sick?  I’m sure Marcy would love to be cuddled by a Nurse Cat when she catches a cold.

Marcy:  Yuck! I don’t want Penelope purring all over me. Besides, she’s so dumb, she’ll never pass her classes.

penelope kitten:  you’re mean. i’m going to cuddle you til you’re nice.

Penelope Kitten launches herself into the air and onto Marcy’s head, pinning her down in a massive kitty cuddle.

Marcy’s swears and curses are muffled by Penelope Kitten’s purrs.

Cynthia:  Looks like you don’t need school. You’re a natural.

penelope kitten:  this’ll take a while.

Cynthia:  So I should unpack your bags?

penelope kitten:  yeah yeah.

Marcy continues to hiss and swear as Penelope Kitten showers her with cuddles and purrs.

HA HA…that's too cute! P-kitty would make a great nurse! (Seriously though, I've often thought about whether Minnie could be a therapy cat.)

Yes! I don't think it's a coincidence that the Nurse Cat is a black cat. There's something so sweet about a black cat's temperament. Just like Torties are considered bossy and social and orange and brown tabbies are considered dog-like. So interesting.

      thank u.

Wish I had a Penelope type kitty. I have a Marcy cat who cuddles when SHE wants to cuddle and bites when the mood strikes.
    Are all nurse cats black?

I doubt all nurse cats are black cats but as I was telling Merrie above, they are known for sweet and caring temperaments. I thought the Nurse Cat looked so much like Penelope, that's what inspired my post.

you obviously have a real cat.

That is the cutest thing ever! I bet it helps the animals heal. P-kitty is so sweet 🙂

Oh this scared me at first because I thought she was going to a new home. I think you mentioned before that you have fostered cats and I feared that "college" was code for new home.
That is such a cute story about the nurse kitty. I have had cats that cuddle more when I feel under the weather, especially when they get older.
    Thanks for sharing,

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry for that minute of fear! My heart just fell into my stomach at the thought of giving her up. I could never do it now! There was a time when I was fostering her and her sister and trying to get a home for both of them together. Her sis was a tortie and was easily placed in a wonderful home with another resident cat. I am so glad it didn't work out for Penelope and now she is ours. Although, because we kept her I can no longer foster. Four cats is all we can handle at the moment. lol

I wrote once and the Internet ate it so here I go again. That is so kewl about the nurse cat, and I'm glad that P decided to stay home… bc she has her paws full with her crabby big sister. Does Penelope really squeak?

Awww … so sorry that the internet ate your first comment. That happens to me sometimes when I'm commenting on other blogs. It drives me crazy and I get so mad I stomp my feet like a kid.

Yes – Penelope really does squeak. I will record it and share on the blog. It's mostly really cute.

      u bet.

So I'm crying. Thank goodness your post was funny because the pictures got to me like a Sarah McLaughlan humane society commercial. I can't do sad/happy/inspiration animal stories. The picture with the cat and the husky? I just can't. I tried one episode of Pitbulls and Parolees and basically lost all control and wherewithal and dissolved into tears. I totally support occupational therapy with animals. I think it's magical. I am just not able to witness it, apparently. Go, Penelope, go! Share your love and affection! Even if it's just wasted on grumpy old Marcy. I'm sure Cynthia still appreciates it. 🙂

Oh no! In don't want you to cry! I do understand it though. Other people have told me that this brought tears to their eyes. You're right – it is magical. Awww… I'll have to send Penelope over to give you a hug! 😉

That's so cute. My cats both love to cuddle. They are generally anti-dog but when our first weimaraner got sick, they would cuddle with him on his dog bed. Either that or they were staking a claim on his territory.

Oh I bet they were helping him out! That is sooooo sweet!
