Feline, mostly me, by penelope

mostly me, by penelope (halloween edition)

penelope kitten (squeaking):

happy halloween! happy halloween! happy halloween!

be sure to please keep your kitties inside tonight.

mean people abound on halloween

and us kitties aren’t always safe.

especially us black panthers.

i don’t know why.

something about being the familiars of witches.

or evil omens.

but i’m not evil.

i’m cute.

and i’m not familiar with witches.

never met one.

Marcy interrupts.

Marcy:  A familiar is a supernatural evil entity that assists witches – does their dirty work for them. Kind of like a demon alter ego.

penelope kitten:  that’s weird.

Marcy:  That’s humans for you. Some of them believe all kinds of strange stuff. And since it could cause us severe bodily damage, we’ll just lay low until Saturday morning.

penelope kitten:  i’ll lay low but i’m going to look fierce while doing it.

penelope strikes a fierce pose that is adorably cute!

Marcy:  Yeah. Real fierce, Penelope, real fierce.

=^..^=

So sad…Im staying at my parents house in GA now. My mom has a little black kitty. It would break my heart if something happened to her bc she's already so skittish and really needs to be on anti-anxiety meds. I'll remind mom to keep her in tnite. Thanks for the reminder!

Happy Halloween! Hope you are having wonderful time with your mom! The good news is that your mom's kitty is skittish so no one would be able to get her!!

Since Halloween is dangerous for you cats, why not dress up in dog costumes? Marcy, you'd make a great Shih Tzu and Penelope, I see you as a Poodle

I hope they stayed safe! People can be so scary! It was such a quick night over here. Only four trick or treaters! I have so much candy left! No Friskies though, Marcy! Sorry!

I heard they do not adopt black cats out around Halloween. Is that true?

Yes, it is true that shelters don't adopt black cats out during October because of Halloween. I did read that some shelters are not doing this anymore.
Wow – only four trick or treaters? Marcy says next time to just buy Friskies!

I would never have thought that Halloween would be dangerous for black cats, but you're totally right. I remember as a little girl being on the lookout for black cats and squealing with fearful delight if we saw them out. The spooky thrill was fun. But we were silly girls. Other people take the superstition a bit more seriously, like it's license to harm the cats. It's sad.

Hopefully your fluffy-butts had a happy Halloween, laying low inside. Jazzy looks about as "fierce" when she's laying low! lol

Yes, it is super sad what some people do to animals around this time of year. (unhappy face)
Ahhh… Jazzy!! Do you ever lift up his paws – wave them in the air – and say "jazz hands"? hee hee hee – I would be tempted! So cute
