It’s that time of year again! …
Penelope Kitten is performing the official Madonna Holiday song video dance during Cynthia’s PSA about National Feral Cat Day.
She is wearing a mid-riff baring top, a kicky lace skirt, leggings, and bangles. Just like Madonna.

a still from Madonna’s Holiday video below
Except with a much larger belly.
Cynthia: It’s October 16th – National Feral Cat Day.
penelope kitten (squeak singing): “hol-i-daaaay”.
Penelope Kitten rocks her arms and hips back and forth. Just like Madonna.
Cynthia: This is the day when we celebrate and advocate for our community cats.
penelope kitten: “cel-e-brate”.
Penelope Kitten slides and grooves. Just like Madonna.
Cynthia: Community cats are everywhere. And they need our help. TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) is the only humane and effective approach to caring for these cats and stabilizing the cat population.
penelope kitten: “you can turn this world around”.
Penelope Kitten clumsily but earnestly pirouettes and jabs her elbows in the air. Just like Madonna.
Cynthia: And we’ve got great news!
penelope kitten: “and bring back all of those happy days”.
Cynthia: According to Alley Cat Allies, from 2003 to 2013 the number of local governments with official policies endorsing TNR increased tenfold, with hundreds of cities and towns successfully carrying out TNR programs. That number continues to grow every year.
penelope kitten: “we have got. to. cel.e.brate.”
Penelope Kitten dance jogs and fist bumps the air. Just like Madonna.
Cynthia: So boogie on down, PKitty! TNR is working!
penelope kitten: “every-body spread the word”.
Penelope Kitten shimmy rolls her shoulders back and kicks a bent leg up in the air.
Cynthia: Plus, having community cats around is good for rodent control. For instance, the last colony I helped to TNR was under threat by a local restaurant manager of poisoning. In desperation, we relocated 18 (out of 20) cats and guess what? The entire block of restaurants is now having a rodent infestation.
Just then Penelope kitten stops dancing and grabs her Police Chief hat and a badge that says “Puddy Patrol”.
Cynthia: A coincidence? I think not.
penelope kitten (squeaking): we gotta go to work, marcy. heard there’s a rat in the neighborhood.
Marcy (sitting atop the refrigerator): Donald Trump isn’t campaigning in California.
Penelope Kitten throws off her hat and badge.
penelope kitten: “hol-i-daay. cel-e-brate”.
Penelope Kitten resumes her Madonna dance moves.

I love you, Marcy.
Also: I didn’t know about the restaurant/feral cat/rat situation. Makes so much sense… cats are AWESOME.
(And so is T/N/R.)
i kinda luv you too. but don’t let it go to your head.

Congrats on the successful TNR program. How wonderful that it’s being recognized and supported.
Great karma for the restaurant owner. “Contemplate poisoning cats, the universe sends you rats.” That’s an old saying I just made up
Speaking of old, what year is that Madonna video?
Love the old saying you just made up! 🙂 Can I use it?
The video is from 1983.

Cats gone and rats are infesting the place? Coincidence, I think not. Thank you for this clever acknowledgement of the holiday. I love how you worked the song lyrics into your post in such a witty, seamless way. You really do an amazing job of making PSAs in an informative, engaging, and humorous way. I played the song before reading your post, and it made picturing the cats dancing along much more vivid and hilarious. I so appreciate your imagination!
Awww… thank you, Liz! I love that you played the song first. I bet you were singing it for days though – sorry about that if it happened. Every time I pass by the rat traps I get enraged. Ah well… one thing I’ve learned is that some people just won’t budge. You win some and you lose some. Now I have to play the Madonna song myself so I don’t think about the traps!
