A funny thing happened on the way to the Women’s March…
Cynthia: So here’s what happened, Lovely Readers.
Last week – when I was reading about the PussyHat Project for the first time – I said to myself –
“Hey! why not send some of my Pink Cat Macrame Bracelets to the founders and knitters as a little thank you for their efforts and inspiration. My bracelets will match their hats! How fun!”
Marcy: Talking to your self is a sign of insanity, you know.
penelope kitten (squeaking): nuh uh. sign of genius.
Marcy: Yeah. Genuinely insane.
Cynthia (continuing): So, I quickly mailed off all the pink bracelets I had and hoped they would like them.
Cynthia stops and smiles.
penelope kitten: and?
Cynthia: They did! Kat Coyle, owner of The Little Knittery and birthplace of the PussyHat Project, posted this Instagram photo.
penelope kitten: gasp. matches perfectly.
Cynthia: Yup. And, just like that, I got lots of requests for pink bracelets.
penelope kitten: yay yay!
Cynthia: We are donating a portion of each sale to Planned Parenthood as a small way to help the cause of women’s affordable health care and also as a thank you to The Little Knittery for their IG exposure.
Marcy (proudly): And, we changed the name to Pink Pussy Bracelet.
Cynthia: It’s a little bold, a little cutesy, and a little dirty.
Marcy: It’s purrrfect.
Cynthia looks at Marcy confused.
Marcy: Occasionally, I condescend to a little hyperbole as well.
=^..^=

Thanks for promoting the resistance. Wearing a pink pussy bracelet is a great way to make a statement along with funding Planned Parenthood.
Gosh, Cynthia, I doubt you meant for MarcyVeryMuch to become a political forum but it’s impossible to avoid. It consumes our thoughts and conversations and I, for one, am having nightmares. But is spurs me to make daily calls to representatives. (Today’s topic will be the Dakota Access Pipeline).
I know. I was trying not to get political but obviously that hasn’t happened according to a few of my posts over the past few months. lol
I just saw one of my CatCon vendor friends lose followers because she created an illustration of a black cat wearing a pussyhat.
I am still going to be lighthearted and friendly and humorous and not get dour or mean or accusatory when I do the occasional post that seems political. That is why I responded so enthusiastically to the PussyHat Project – they are cheeky and fun and wow did they make a point!!

Love it! This lets people flaunt their “true colors” at work (and other places) where they can’t wear the pink pussy hat. Vive la resistance, Marcy!
Thank you. Make sure you wave your arm around a lot when wearing my bracelet!

Purrrrfect! This is awesome, and I’m so proud of the work you do through your blog and creative efforts. It’s truly inspiring. I admire how you mesh your work as a creative with your work as an activist, from animal rights to women’s rights. Keep fighting the good fight.
