What Do Cat Fashion And Lil Bub Have In Common?

Cats in Clothes by Heather Mattoon
an exhibitor at LA Feline Film Festival

Cynthia:  Only that I will be covering both at the LA Feline Film Festival this Sunday at Exposition Park.

I can’t wait to see all the cat outfits on the Cat Walk at 6:55pm. And, I get to interview Lil Bub and her “Dude”. Woo hoo!

Lil Bub
Celebrity Guest at LA Feline Film Festival

Marcy:  You’re going to meet Lil Bub?

Cynthia:  Yes. Are you sure you don’t want to come with me, Marcy? You could ask Lil Bub how she got so famous. Maybe she could give you some pointers.

Marcy:  I don’t need pointers from her. She’s not a cat.

Cynthia:  Ummm… Yes she is.

Marcy:  No. She’s not.

Cynthia:  Yes. She is.

Marcy stares at Cindy and whips her tail back and forth.

Marcy:  Then why – after all these years – does she still have those cute kitten features you humans go gaga over?

Cynthia:  Because she has genetic mutations that make her a “perma-kitten.” Plus, she’s a dwarf kitty which means her legs are shorter than her body.

Marcy:  Right. And she doesn’t have teeth and can’t jump or meow.

Cynthia:  That’s right. And she’s got extra toes on each paw as well as opposable thumbs on her front paws.

Marcy:  SHE HAS OPPOSABLE THUMBS AND YOU STILL THINK SHE’S A CAT?

Cynthia looks confused.

Marcy:  OPPOSABLE THUMBS, CINDY. OPPOSABLE THUMBS.

Cynthia:  Oh. You’re just jealous.

Marcy:  Hmpf…

Cynthia:  Besides, Lil Bub and cat fashion, the LA Feline Film Festival will also have music by Pink Nylon, Bullet Made Statues, Alex Nestor, Lucy Langlas, and Tarra Layne.

There will be cat art, cat supply vendors, cat adoptions, comedy by Kate Aagesen, and a Q&A by Will Bradon of Henri Le Chat Noir.

Henri by Pamela Baron Designs
an exhibitor at LA Feline Film Festival

Marcy:  Gasp. My French boyfriend, Henri Le Chat Noir, is going to be there too?

Cynthia:  No. Just his filmmaker. I think Henri hates other cats and cat fanatics as much as you do.

Marcy:  Sigh… he’s sooooo dreamy and soooooo French.

Oh, Marcy, I too am in love with Henri. How I wish I could be there in the presence of his filmmaker, the man who captured Henri's haunting ennui so beautifully. If Henri himself were there I would spring for the $435 plane ticket.

Cynthia, could you make certain that Lil Bub's genetic mutations do not leave him susceptible to health problems or a shortened lifespan? He is so adorable.

sigh. we will just have to be sad and console ourselves by watching his short films over and over and over again.

That is a great question that I too would love to know the answer to. I am not sure how to phrase it to Mike – Lil Bub's "dude" though. Let me see if I can figure it out before Sunday.

J'aime Henri aussi!!! C'est triste that he won't be there. Oh well, he will probably be happier/sadder en France!

How exciting! I am excited and nervous for you. Marcy will be just as famous some day (just don't tell her that. I am afraid she will make the other cats be her personal assistants). Have SO much fun this weekend!

What a fun show to attend! I have to say that Lil Bub scares me. Is he a new breed or is he just unique?
I look forward to seeing your cat walk photos and Lil Bub interview.
    Have fun,
    Stacey

I have so much to blog about the festival yesterday I don't even know where to start!
Lil Bub is a dwarf cat with several genetic mutations. She's a special needs kitty and is a sweetheart and really quite Zen. People stood in line to see her for hours yesterday. I have never seen anything like it. Her owner, Mike, is also a sweetheart!
