‘Another Cats Show’ at 356 Mission in Los Angeles

Cynthia:  Cats are now seriously mainstream.

Marcy:  Seriously. What took you people so long? We’re awesome.

Cynthia:  Well, Marcy… everyone finally got the memo. Los Angles has another cat art show going on. Take a look!

Cynthia: It’s at 356 Mission Art Gallery in Boyle Heights. That’s in East Los Angeles.

Cynthia:  There were over 300 works by 300 artists. They ranged from cat paintings.

Cynthia:  To sculptures.

Cynthia: To pottery.

Cynthia:  Some of the art was great. Some of it was strange.

Cynthia:  Some of it looked like 3rd grade dried macaroni assignments.

Cynthia: But all in all … it was fun! Super duper fun! Which was the whole point of 356 Mission doing this exhibition in the first place.

Marcy (proudly): And it was exclusively about cats.

Cynthia:  Yes!

You know, when I started our blog over a year ago, I really thought this cat obsession was going to be a fad. That eventually cat craziness would die down and we would become obsolete. But just the opposite has happened. Cat infatuation is going strong and shows no sign of stopping. Los Angeles is even getting the Feline Film Festival next month.

Marcy:  Gasp! A Cat Film Festival in Los Angeles?

Marcy races around in circles chasing her tail she is so excited.

Marcy:  I need an agent. I need a publicist.

Cynthia:  Or a therapist.

So cool! I love all of the pictures. My favorite painting is the tiny kitten. It is so sweet. I love that tank top on you. I am showing it to my daughter. Obsessed with cats is she. Obsessed with Yoda is her mother. You definitely need to get some business cards for your blog before that festival. Too cool!

Very cool…I wonder if SFO has cool cat events like this? I love the kitty bench and OMG…a cat film festival!?!?!! How cool! Are you going to go? (You look really cute in your kitty-culottes too 🙂 )

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch September 1, 2014 at 9:28 pm

Yes – I am planning to go. My only concern is that cats are invited and that may make me nervous. Cats don't like big crowds so that seems a bit dangerous for them.

You know – I heard somewhere that SFO may get a cat cafe soon!

Oh and I so want that Kitty bench too!

Marcy, about that film festival…I'm working on a script "Captain Claws and His Crazed Crew." It's about a group of pirate cats terrorizing anything that floats. You'd be perfect for the lead with your natural eye patch and anger issues. Are you interested?

What a fun and whimsical exhibit! You're certainly not alone if an art exhibit and film festival are catering to people with your same level and commitment to kitty cats! I would have loved this exhibit. It's so playful and cute but also reflects our love for our pets. The kitten sketch is super adorable, the cat tower is ginormously impressive, and I love the quirky pottery as well. Thanks for sharing!

It definitely was a fun show! People are crazy for their pets – cats, dogs, bunnies. I love it!

Wow. That cat tree is kind of scary. I am not sure if I would want my kitties climbing it!

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch September 3, 2014 at 12:43 am

Oh Liana it was sooooo tall. I think I'd be scared to let my cats climb it too!

How can you be in your forties? You look so much younger! Anyway, these cat art shows look like so much fun. I love some of these pieces.
The cat tree looks too high and dangerous for a cat, but I'm sure it's not meant for real cat use.
If you have more pictures I would love to see more.
    Thanks for sharing,

      Ha. You are so sweet!

Yes – I am pretty sure that cat tree was just created for the gallery space. It is simply too high to be safe. I do have more pictures. I think I will put them up later this week or next.
