It is a truth universally acknowledged, that where there are book lovers, there are cat lovers.
“Why, though?” wonders Cynthia aloud as she lounges on the sofa, waiting for the season three finale of The White Lotus to come onto the TV.
Penelope Kitten is typing furiously on her vintage Smith Corona, hard at work on her debut novel while Marcy is frantically working on gathering her Marcy Merch to sell at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books on April 26 + 27. They barely look up as Cynthia posits her question.
Marcy: You’ve been reading too much Jane Austen. Get off your butt and help me get ready for the book festival.
Cynthia: I do believe it is empirically impossible for one to read too much Jane Austen.
Marcy: Well get off your butt anyway. The LA Times Festival of Books is in exactly 20 days and I need help organizing our books and merch.
penelope kitten (looking up and squeaking): gasp! the book festival is in 20 days?!
PK jumps into her little green wagon, aka the GoMobile, and starts to pedal with her feet.
Cynthia: Whoa! Where are you going, Penelope?
penelope kitten: gotta get to USC. gotta stake out our spot!
Cynthia: Don’t worry, we’ve got the same spot as the last two years! Booth 202. Across from the Poetry Stage.
penelope kitten: gotta make sure we have enough “mostly me, by penelope” books, “Dear Marcy” books, and “books and cats and books and cats” book bags. we sold out last year. hoomans were heartbroken.

Marcy: I got ‘em stocked and ready to go. Apparently, I’m the only one who does any work around here.
Cynthia and Marcy and penelope kitten: We hope to see you at the book festival this year! Come by our booth to say “hi” and/or “meow.”
We stocked up on our fan fave book bag which sold out the first day last year. We’ll also have our Penelope and Marcy books, “Hell No Kitty” totes and enamel pins, handmade cat bracelets, and some other fun cat inspired treats. Plus, we’ve got our new Penelope Witch enamel pins way in time for Halloween!
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is the largest book festival in the world with tons of authors, celebrities, musical performances, panels, Q& A’s, and book signings and more! Great for kids too! Plus, it’s free!
