Penelope Kitten is siting at her vintage Smith Corona typewriter tap tap tapping on the keys.

“It was a dark and stormy night.”

penelope kitten:  no, that’s not right.

She tears out the paper, crumples it up, and throws it over her shoulder.

“Call me Ishmael.”

penelope kitten:  nope.

“It was the best of times it was … the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.”

penelope kitten:  oh yeah!

Penelope leaps off her chair and starts beatboxing. Loudly.

penelope kitten: books and cats and books and cats and books and cats …

Cynthia and Marcy enter.

Cynthia:  It’s 3am!

Marcy:  We were sound asleep!

Cynthia:  Why are you beatboxing in the middle of the night?

The downstairs neighbors pound on their ceiling.

Marcy:  Now the neighbors hate us.

Cynthia:  Why aren’t you sleeping?

penelope kitten:  can’t sleep won’t sleep. i’m too excited for the book festival and my new book bag!

Cynthia:  The book festival isn’t until April 20th.

Marcy:  Oh my gato, she’s going to beatbox for the next two weeks.

penelope kitten (beatboxing): books and cats and books and cats …

The downstairs neighbors pound on the ceiling.
