The rundown on More Than A Cone’s runway, art, animal rescue, and more…
Saturday afternoon.
Penelope Kitten rushes out to the patio where Cynthia is drinking coffee and daydreaming with Marcy sound asleep on her lap.
penelope kitten (squeaking): where’s the recap?
Cynthia: Oh, thank you. I’d love a coffee recap. Mine’s getting a little cold.
penelope kitten: recap! where’s the More Than A Cone gala recap?
Cynthia (lazily): I posted all the pics on social media.
penelope kitten: not good enough! get to work. i’ve created an outline, uploaded the pics, and copied links to all relevant websites/news features.
Penelope Kitten marches off to the office.
Cynthia: I guess this is why Penelope Kitten is becoming more famous than either of us –
Marcy (interrupting): Stop interrupting my nap.
Cynthia: She’s got a better work ethic.
penelope kitten (yell squeaking from the office): recap!
More Than A Cone’s Avant Garden Party To Benefit Animal Rescue Recap:
Cynthia: Basically, it was a spectacular event. Truly spectacular.
From the mesmerizing Cone Runway Show by Bill Rangel –
To the cool bands, a cat loving DJ, and funny host –
To the creative art inspired by the cone of shame – here.
To the short films by Amy Raasch of Kitty Decides, to the fun and creative vendors (caricature artist, fortune teller, arm wrestler) –
To the adorable animals up for adoption by Kitten Rescue and Angel City Pit Bulls.
Oh and the free cupcakes and wine bar! Yum! I even got to hang out with Lou, the hot mannequin, from Kitty Decides.

Our sweet and talented friends from CatConLA, Sugar Fueled, were vending as well.
Freddy was (as usual) an invaluable help behind the booth.

The only mishap was when the sprinklers unexpectedly came on and soaked all of our booths. We ran around like crazy chickens moving the Marcy Merch out of the way. Luckily, we took it all in stride and the only damage was in soggy shoes and wet feet.
And lastly, and most importantly, we were able to give back a portion of our proceeds to More Than A Cone – which is a fabulous 501c3 that helps out the animals here in Los Angeles!
Like I said, More Than A Cone’s Avant Garden Party was truly spectacular – creative, wonderful, fun. Spectacular. We can’t wait for next year!

That looks like such an awesome event! I absolutely love the cone fashion!! So sorry about the sprinkling 🙁
We dried off pretty quickly considering there is a drought. Luckily none of the Marcy Merch was damaged. The real question is – why on earth are they watering their huge lawn in a drought!! Hoping it’s recycled/grey water!

Thanks, Penelope for getting the cone recap done. I’ve been waiting for it!
Loved that gray kitty being dangled by the rescue person. The gray pit bull is pretty cute too. Gray is so stylish.
Did anyone beat the arm wrestler? The only hope would be to have a few angry cats attack him as a distraction. Marcy?
I love how we keep picking up on the same parts of the post!
There was an arm wrestler.
This is an actual thing.
I need to have a party, just to invite him.
And Marcy. I would love to see THAT go down… 🙂
oh yeah. i could take him down. no prob.

THERE WAS ARM WRESTLING???
I can’t believe I missed that. Damn you, stupid flu!!!
Anyway —
Congratulations on another successful event — here’s to more!

squeak, pkitty
What a great recap, PK is getting to be quite the mover and shaker! Love the pics!
She’s SO bossy lately! She yells at me all the time in her squeaky voice!

Glad Penelope was on top of this because I’ve been waiting for this post! Way to keep the troops in line, Miss P! It looks so fun, and I can’t believe the diversity of events, vendors, and entertainment. I really love the art inspired by the cone of shame, too. What a great expressive outlet for redirecting your pity/laughter/mockery into your art instead of towards your pet. lol And two paws up for the cone fashions. I’d wear a flirty cone skirt for sure!
