10 am. Sunday morning. Cynthia is sound asleep.
Marcy and Penelope Kitten furtively sneak out of the house with Cynthia’s car keys.
They hop into Cynthia’s red Beetle.
Penelope Kitten puts the keys in the ignition.
Marcy and Penelope Kitten (yelling): Road trip!!
penelope kitten (squeaking): where r we gonna go go go?
Marcy: Beach! Shopping! Brunch!
penelope kitten: yay! i luv brunch.
Marcy: Wait! Why do you get to drive? I want to drive.
penelope kitten: u already drive.
Marcy: Hunh?
penelope kitten: u drive me crazy. all day every day. ha ha. i’m driving.
Marcy: I should drive. I’m a good driver.
penelope kitten: r not. let’s zoom.
Penelope Kitten breezily and confidently puts her left paw on the steering wheel and her right elbow on Marcy’s head.
Marcy: Oh my gato we’re all gonna die!
Penelope Kitten looks backwards in order to peel out into reverse when all of a sudden she realizes –
penelope kitten: uh oh.
Marcy: What?
penelope kitten: my back paws don’t reach the pedals.
And so ends Marcy and Penelope Kitten’s epic road trip in Cynthia’s red Bug.

Awww! Darling painting, and a darling story to go with it. Poor Penelope. Maybe she needs stilts? And I laughed when I saw her driving because I immediately thought, “Ooooooh…Marcy’s not gonna like that!” Ha!
