The Little Friends Of Printmaking | A CatCon Vendor We’re Excited About

Cats and Los Angeles in art! What could be better? …

10 pm Sunday evening. Cynthia is working on her blog post at the kitchen table.

Marcy and Penelope Kitten enter. They have just come back from a day trip. They are exhausted and depressed.

Cynthia:  What’s up kitty cats? How was your trip?

Penelope Kitten vomits.

Marcy:  Awful. Don’t believe the hype. Contrary to how it sounds, Catalina is not a cat’s paradise.

Cynthia:  No?

Marcy:  No. It’s full of bored neutered ferals, stuck up buffalo, and drunk wannabe pirates living on broken boats.

Penelope kitten vomits again.

Marcy:  And P was seasick the entire boat ride back to Los Angeles.

Cynthia:  Ah. Too bad. I guess that means you’re now…

Cynthia leaps out of her chair and points a finger at Marcy and Penelope Kitten.

Cynthia (in a radio announcer voice):  “Depressed In Los Angeles!”

Marcy:  Are you really going to turn our misfortune into a segue for your CatCon vendor post?

Cynthia (fist bumping the air):  YES! Because you are now… “Depressed In Los Angeles!”

Marcy:  You’re on your own with your new obsession. I need a shot of catnip.

penelope kitten (squeak):  i need a dramamine.

The cats walk off.

Marcy:  You’re supposed to take that before the boat ride, P.

Cynthia resumes her typing.

Cynthia:  So, lovely readers, The Little Friends of Printmaking is indeed a CatCon vendor we’re excited about!

We met award winning and super sweet husband and wife team, JW and Melissa Buchanan, at last year’s con and are happy to see they are back for this year’s.

They create unique art with a whimsical and retro vibe.

Sometimes their prints are cats.

Sometimes they feature a Los Angeles scene.

Sometimes they don’t feature either.

But they are always smoothly cool –

and somewhat subversively humorous.

Or,  just plain sweet.

Each poster is a hand-printed, limited edition silkscreen.

And, Marcy is correct.  I am obsessed with their “Depressed in Los Angeles” pin with the crying palm tree. Obsessed.

(And secretly hoping they sneak some into CatCon so I can buy one and wear it every single day).

=^..^=

You kitties didn’t like Catalina? It’s beautiful! Puking on the boat is part of the experience.
Depressed in Los Angeles? What happened to “I Love LA?” Come back Randy, get these people singing again. Add Prozac to the water supply. Watch “LA Story.”
Come live in semi-rural Texas for awhile. We have no happy songs or movies, only cows, humidity and Trump fans.
Love the prints, especially “Cat Behind Plants.”

Sorry about Texas depression! We thought the Depressed in Los Angeles was more cheeky than depressing! But, adding Prozac to the water supply may not be a bad thing! For the entire country! lol

    Cats and art.
    Two of my favorite things.
LA — this NY’er still has mixed feelings on the place, 7 years later.
The pin is awesome, though!!! So are the prints — I love the one with all the stuff piled onto the car! And the one with the cat driving the car. Hm… sensing a car theme. Seems LA HAS gotten to me!!

So cute! I love their silhouette graphics and retro vibe. The print with the redhead and the flowers in her hair is my fave! It reminds me of old hippie photos of my mom!
