Marcy and Penelope Kitten interpret Cyber Monday a little differently than us humans. Or do they?
(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy and Penelope Kitten getting more treats)
9am. Monday morning after Thanksgiving weekend.
Cynthia is carefully eating her Grape Nuts.
Marcy and Penelope Kitten march by, chanting, with lists in their paws.
Marcy: Get Get Get
penelope kitten (squeaking): gimme gimme gimme
Cynthia (cheerily): Watcha doin’ kitty cat cat cats?
Marcy: None of your beeswax, Birdbrain.
penelope kitten (squeaking): birdbrain.
Cynthia: Hey! Stop!
Marcy and Penelope Kitten continue their march to the office.
Marcy: Gimme Gimme Gimme
penelope kitten: get get get
Cynthia (following them): Hey! What did you call me?
Marcy: Birdbrain.
Cynthia: Why?!
Marcy: Uh. Hello. It’s Cyber Bully Monday.
Cynthia: What?! There’s no bully in Cyber Monday.
Marcy: Yes there is. Today is the day we get shouted at by retailers to buy stuff. They shout online, in your inbox, and on TV.
penelope kitten: yeah yeah. and it’s all on sale.
Marcy: Here’s a list of our demands.
Cynthia looks at the list as Marcy logs on to the computer.
Cynthia: There are over 100 items on this list!
Marcy: Get Get Get
penelope kitten: gimme gimme gimme
Cynthia: No.
Marcy and penelope kitten: Gasp!
Cynthia: No. No way. You two are acting like little jerks.
Marcy: Of course! It’s Cyber Bully Monday!
Cynthia (yelling and exasperated): There is no bully in Cyber Monday! And even if there was a bully in Cyber Monday – which there absolutely is not – you still shouldn’t act like little meanies! ‘Cause… it’s mean!
Marcy and Penelope Kitten look confused.
Marcy: Oh. Sorry
penelope kitten: so sorry.
Marcy and Penelope Kitten slink away to their hiding spots in the closet.
A few hours later.
Cynthia crawls into the closet.
Cynthia: Sorry for yelling, kitties. But, bullies and meanies make me mad and sad. And it seems like we humans can’t get away from them lately.
I think that instead of buying a ton of stuff we don’t need we should donate cat food and money to our local cat shelters and cat rescuers. Okay?
Marcy and penelope kitten: Ok!
Cynthia: I did check out your lists and since ModCloth is having 25% off their entire store today I thought we could all pick out one fun item.
Marcy: Yay! I would like these huge round blue goggle sunglasses with cat ear accents.
penelope kitten(squeaking): yay! i would like the darth vader on a uni-cylce with a training wheel shirt.
Cynthia: And I think this porcupine laundry bag is pretty cute. And I bet Freddy would like this otter tape dispenser.
Cynthia: Great. So we got some cute inexpensive treats but the real treat – and the true spirit – of the holidays is in giving. And being nice.
Cynthia stops sermonizing and leaves the closet.
Marcy: She must think she’s in the Charlie Brown Christmas Special or something.
penelope kitten (squeaking): or something.
Marcy: So. Did you manage to swipe her credit card?
penelope kitten: yeah yeah.
=^..^=

And if we do buy something through Amazon on cyber Monday we should get there by clicking through the Marcy Very Much store, right? Just thinking of other ways to help cats in need on cyber bully Monday 🙂
Yes! I give a percentage of the money I make through affiliate links to animal rescues – The Kris Kelly Foundation and FixNation!
All you have to do it get to Amazon by clicking on my store above. Where it says “shop”.
Thank you, Patty!!

Unicycle with a training wheel…I love it.
Sorry the kitties were bullying you, Cynthia. It’s nice that they were remorseful, though. Margaret never shows remorse, only glee.
I think it is actually called a Penny-Farthing!

Pennies fart?
lol.
Penny-Farthing!!!
The girls are lucky they didn’t get lumps of coal! Hey Charlie Brown is on tonight….50th anniversary!
I can’t believe it’s 50 years old! I love Snoopy!

Which day is for cyber-manipulative-meowing-little-bitches?
‘Cause that’s what mine are tonight!!!
I love that you turned cyber Monday into a day of giving, and made sure to include yourself!
Besides my usual monthly donations to my charities, I got a poncho/shawl/wrap thing on sale.
I love every single thing you bought for you, the kitties and Freddy! Please don’t make me want them – I need to buy undies.
Buying undies is no fun! But – I bet you could still get a great Cyber Monday deal on them since it seems to be stretching well into the week!

and in answer to your first question. every day.

So as a fashion blogger, I know that I encourage people to shop, shop, shop and buy, buy, buy. I was overtly aware of that going into the shopping weekend and tried to both shop small for most everything on our list and encourage people to give back this holiday season. I was surprised that hardly anyone engaged with or responded to my charity posts and shop small posts. But for my posts that promoted the bigger retailers, people were super psyched about the steep discounts. *sigh*
I’m sure I paid three times as much for the things we bought when we “shopped small”, but still, I feel the best about those purchases.

My most popular posts are always my fashion posts when I review an item of clothing or talk about how much I want a certain item of clothing. It always surprises me since I don’t feel that I am really a shopping/fashion blog and my insights aren’t that great. So interesting.
I too am trying to shop small and end up paying more. But, like you, I am so happy to support independent and local businesses and artists.
