Check out artist Amy Raasch’s kitschy cool… subversively awesome… web installation!…
8pm. A Tuesday evening.
Cynthia and Penelope Kitten are dancing lurching and singing along into hair brushes. Loudly. And badly.
They are wearing side ponytails, Day-Glo pajamas, and Revlon’s “Pink In the Afternoon” lipstick.
Cynthia (screeching): Wake me up before you –
penelope kitten (squeaking): go go.
Cynthia and penelope kitten: yeah yeah YEAH!
Cynthia: Take it away, PKitty!
Penelope Kitten does her best George Michael move.
penelope kitten: jitterbug… (she freezes for 3 beats)… jitterbug…
Marcy is mad.
Marcy: That’s it.
She leaps onto the record player so that it crashes to the ground and the music comes to a halt.
Marcy: While you two are frittering away your lives singing into hairbrushes and pretending to be back up singers for a band that wasn’t cool even in 1984, other people are creating amazing kitschy subversive art installations on the web.
Marcy hits “play” on Amy Raasch’s web installation, Kitty Decides.
Cynthia (gaping): OMG (oh my gato)! Wowza Meowza! That was so cool!
penelope kitten (squeaking): superdupercool.
Marcy: Exactly.
They watch the Kitty Decides video again.
Cynthia: Even the description introducing the video is cool.
“An egg-shaped trailer painted bubblegum pink stands alone in a desert, framed by rocks jutting dramatically skyward. From inside, a woman in a skintight catsuit emerges and begins to dance to a percolating electronic beat punctuated by purrs and meows.”
Marcy: Exactly.
Cynthia (gushing): And Amy Raasch did this to benefit animal rescue!
Marcy: Exactly.
Cynthia (suddenly yelling): I want to be a Kitty Decides video vixen!
penelope kitten (squeaking): me too.
Marcy: Wait in line, girls. I’ve already got my people talking to her people. I really think she’ll let me be her kitty.
Cynthia: Ah… but we’ll miss you!
Marcy: Well… as Amy Raasch says – You do not get to decide. Kitty decides.
Cynthia and Marcy and Penelope Kitten: Kitty Decides!
Cynthia and Penelope Kitten practice their Kitty Decides dance steps while Marcy waits by the phone for Amy’s call.
=^..^=

OMG, I love it!!! You have to watch it several times to see everything. It’s so well done, it must have taken forever to find all those clips. And I absolutely LOVE the framed pics of the Shakespearean-looking cats!!
Isn’t all of it just so … AWESOME!!

Wow, great video! Music reminded me of “Blinded me with Science.” Tuxedo cat biting human reminded me of a personal bad kitty moment… surreal yet realistic. Hope it goes crazy viral and Amy and the rescues get rich and famous.
paws crossed!

Can’t you just let me pretend I was cool? Just ONE TIME???
Ok, fine. You’re right. 🙂
(I still listen to them when I go for walks.)
LOL – love you!
Love you, too, Dancin’ Queen!
So that’s what the world looks like when you O.D. on catnip! Love it!
BTW, I endorse skintight cat suits for everyone. When are you getting yours?
I’m afraid I will not look cool and fierce like Amy Raasch.
