Penelope’s Petting Zoo!

Marcy’s latest business venture has everyone on edge! …

1 am. Friday.

Cynthia and Freddy loudly stumble through the front door – delirious – and carrying a table, boxes filled with Marcy merch, and a broken 10 x10 EZ pop-up tent.

Marcy is waiting up for them.

Marcy (immediately):  Where you been?

Cynthia:  Hi Marcy.

Marcy:  Where you been?

Cynthia collapses on the couch.

Cynthia: I told you this morning… we were vending at Winterfest.

Marcy:  Sounds cold.

Cynthia:  Oh no… the weather was really quite nice. There was an ice skating rink, a beer garden, horse carriage rides, Santa’s Village, food trucks, giant inflatable rides, and even a petting zoo.

Marcy:  Petting who?

Cynthia:  Pigs and piglets, goats, ponies –

Marcy:  Sounds stupid.

Cynthia:  Oh no… it was really quite nice. Plus, the animal group running the zoo were excellent caregivers and so sweet. I’m sure they appreciated the money they made to help care for their critters.

Marcy (perking up): They made money?

Cynthia:  Oh yes… (yawning) it was really quite nice.

Cynthia falls asleep on the couch.

Marcy whips out her calculator.

The next morning …

Marcy presents Cynthia with her business plan, Pet Penelope For A Penny.

Marcy:  We’re coming with you to your next Winterfest.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  I luv pets. ‘specially belly pets. gonna make 100 dollars.

The night after the next Winterfest …

Marcy, Penelope Kitten, Cynthia, and Freddy loudly stumble through the front door – delirious – and carrying a table, boxes filled with Marcy merch, and a another broken 10 x10 EZ pop-up tent.

Cynthia: That was a disaster.

penelope kitten:  so sorry. panicked. too many peeps.

Marcy (to Penelope):  I can’t believe you hid in the giant Christmas Tree for 5 hours.

Cynthia (to Marcy):  I can’t believe you bit those 7 year olds!

Marcy:  Not my fault. They tried to pet me.

Cynthia:  Yeah because you were sitting in a PETTING ZOO!

Marcy swishes her tail back and forth.

Cynthia: Ugh. I don’t know how I let you two talk me into these things.

penelope kitten:  so sorry.

Cynthia stomps off to bed.

Marcy whips out her calculator.

Marcy:  Okay so how much to you think a game of Hide And Seek With Penelope would fetch?

=^..^=

*Come see us at Winterfest on Sunday December 9th (11am-7pm)! It’s super fun! We may add some more dates and will keep you posted on our Marcy Very Much Instagram.

(Marcy and Penelope will be staying home, tho.)

Winterfest sounds fantastic. I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you kitties. Is the seven-year-old going to sue? Did you need the fire department to retrieve Penelope?
Maybe you two could learn to skate and do a “Kitties on Ice” show rather than having to mingle with humans.
You both look great in Santa hats.

The Winterfest sounds wonderful! I’ve been seeking out similarly festive events around Metro Detroit. Have fun! Pigs and piglets?! My favorite! I still have super vivid memories from my childhood of going to local farms and petting the little piggies. It’s good for the soul. Happy Holidays!!

And possibly a 5 year old but she’s blaming that on a piglet named Pam.
