9am.

The day after a Hearts & Halos vet helped Marcy over the Rainbow Bridge.

Cynthia is sitting at the kitchen table sadly staring at her coffee cup when Penelope walks in with her CB Radio.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  just got word from Marcy.

Cynthia:  Oh Penelope. I know this is difficult but Marcy died.

penelope kitten:  yeah but she’s been texting and radioing.

Cynthia:  Remember we talked about how she’s at the Rainbow Bridge?

penelope kitten: yeah so she’s not there.

Cynthia:  Of course she is. All animals go to the Rainbow Bridge.

penelope kitten:  no no. she bypassed the Bridge. she’s at the Pearly Gate arguing with St. Peter over his fashion choices.

Cynthia:  She’s an atheist. Why is she talking to St. Peter?

penelope kitten:  doesn’t like his white robe and long beard. thinks its old fashioned. she’s trying to convince him to wear a nice pair of dark wash denim, a light blue button down, skinny tie, and JCrew suit jacket.

Cynthia:  She wants St. Peter to wear a San Francisco Suit?

penelope kitten: yeah yeah. with some aviator sunglasses and a clean shave. she also wants to redecorate.

Cynthia: Redecorate? Doesn’t she like all the pearls on the gate?

penelope kitten:  no no. says it’s garish. she wants to tear down the gate and put in a mid century modern lounge.

Cynthia: I take it St. Peter is resisting?

penelope kitten:  no no. he likes the idea but says he has to take it up with God.

Cynthia: So who’s in charge of the Pearly Gate while St. Peter is talking to God?

penelope kitten: marcy. obvi.

Cynthia:  What?!!

penelope kitten:  yeah yeah. she and Diane Keaton are deciding who gets in to Heaven. so far they’ve let in Ozzy Osbourne.

Penelope’s phone bings.

penelope kitten:  marcy says to get out of your pajamas and seize the day. she’s not sure yet how many you have left.

Cynthia: How does Marcy know I’m in my pajamas? Or how many days I have left?

penelope kitten: she’s omnipotent.

Cynthia: So Marcy is going to order us around from up above?

Penelope’s phone bings. Penelope looks at it and then and Cynthia.

penelope kitten: marcy says “yes.”

Cynthia and Penelope break out into big smiles.

Cynthia/penelope kitten:  yay!

A note from Cynthia.

I created Marcy as a snarky, opinionated, judgmental character for the blog. In reality, she was sweet and affectionate. Well, to me, Freddy, and Scooter. She never did accept Hamlet and Penelope. She lived a good 20 years and only slowed down near the end due to kidney failure. I feel so fortunate we were able to help her along when it got to be too much for her. We miss her horribly. And while our sweet girl is gone, the cranky kitty will continue on the blog.
