Our recurring feature about those inexplicable manic fashion moments when all of a sudden we have to have a bizarre item of clothing. Immediately. …

Cynthia: Well this is concerning.
Marcy: What happened?
Cynthia: Hmmmmm…. not good, not good.
Marcy: What?
Cynthia: Well, I really and truly dislike the dark floral trend happening right now. In fact, I hate it. It’s from the early 1990’s grunge era which I despised back then and my feelings have not changed.
Marcy: Eww. There was a fashion era that was called “grunge”?!!
Cynthia: Oh yes – everyone wore floral Holly Hobby dresses/rompers, Doc Martens, and flannel. I hardly bought any clothes from 1990-1994.
Marcy: Ewww.I don’t blame you.
Cynthia: I exclusively wore boy’s 501 Levi’s and baggy tees from Target.
Marcy: Ewwww. That sounds even worse.
Cynthia: Also, velvet was popular. I don’t like velvet either.
Cynthia’s eyes dilate and she becomes animated and manic.
Cynthia: So why oh why do I have to have this Floral Velvet Wide Leg Jumpsuit?! Like, right now?!
Marcy takes a closer look.
Cynthia (dreamily): Can’t you just see it looking so chic and groovy with strappy high heeled sandals, a messy top knot, and a slinky lariat necklace?
Marcy vomits up a hairball.
Cynthia : You know, you could have just said “no.”
Marcy: No.

Cynthia, alas, bc we humans need to stick together, I must side with Marcy on this one. I like the pattern ok, the proportions are very strange though. I like your 90’s outfit way more….
Marcy is smugly beaming over here. lol Fashion is so weird. Sometimes I like stuff that I know is ridiculous. And sometimes I even buy and wear it. Not much lately, thank goodness! I’m thinking I’ll hold off on this one and maybe by the time it goes on sale I won’t want it anymore. Wait though – stuff at the Loft is ALWAYS on sale. Aaaackkkkk!!!!

I like it!
Really? I figured I’d be the only one!
Hmmm… Marcy just said something snarky. I had to delete it. She’s so mean.

Cynthia, please try to hold off on this purchase. I understand the desire you share with George Costanza to wrap yourself in velvet but if you bring this home Marcy might have a hairball-spewing meltdown.
Oh she’s already told me it will be much worse than a hairball-spewing meltdown. Quite frankly, I’m a little terrified.

And I wore a biker jacket with my flower print baby doll dresses and combat boots, too!
So there!
With better shoes and accessories, I can see the jumpsuit working.
I approve, and not just because I love disagreeing with Marcy for sport.
Velvet is awesome.
Looks like we’ve got 2 for and 2 against! Any tie-breakers out there?
Btw, Marcy wants you to come over for a visit but I would advise against it at this time. She had a bizarre gleam in when she told me to invite you.

Not scared!!
(I plan on bringing a giant bag of catnip and some shiny, dangly things. Let’s see you resist THAT, cat!) 🙂
bring it, human
meow, marcy
That is one hipster-chic jumpsuit! And I finally it hilarious that it’s two things you hate rolled into one! Maybe it’s proof that it takes the RIGHT garment to make you appreciate a trend? And when it comes to dark florals, not all are created equal. I’m not into the ditsy grunge daisies or 90s-inspired prints. I want my dark florals to look like 1930s wallpaper, which the floral on this jumpsuit kind of does…so obviously I like it! lol

Ugh – I severely dislike the grunge daisies too. Hmmm… 1930’s wallpaper – maybe that’s why I like it so much!
