11am. Blursday in the Pandemic.
Cynthia gears up to go to the grocery store for supplies.
Penelope Kitten hands Cynthia items as if they are surgeon and assistant.
Cynthia: Non-medical cloth mask.
penelope kitten (handing her the mask): check.
Cynthia dons the mask.
Cynthia: Disposable gloves.
penelope kitten (handing her the gloves): check.
Cynthia dons the gloves.
Cynthia: Hand sanitizer. Car keys. Credit Card.
penelope kitten: check. check. check.
Cynthia (deep breath): Okay. I’m going.
Cynthia and Penelope Kitten open the door slowly, peer out cautiously, and slam it shut just as they hear voices entering the courtyard.
penelope kitten: abort the mission, sir.
Cynthia (agreeing): Too many people on the premises.
Cynthia and Penelope Kitten stare out the window, waiting for the mask-less neighbors to stop talking and leave already.
Cynthia (impatiently): This is insane.
penelope kitten: it’s mental.
Cynthia: I need a space suit. If I had a space suit, I could walk without fear amongst the masses.
penelope kitten (squeaking): yeah yeah. like “josie and the pussycats in outer space”.
Marcy (sauntering by): Yeah well. Your modern day space suit exists. It’s called a BioVYZR. Look.
Cynthia: Oh my gato! It’s got a “built in air purifying system” with a “360-degree shield”. Ha. Covid’s not permeating this modern day space suit.
Marcy: Clothing designer, Katya Lozanova, also has a really neat one in Etsy shop, GIZDA.
Marcy: It’s not as airtight as the BioVYZR but it looks just as cool.
Cynthia: Wowza Meowza!! I’ll look like an extra in a Star Wars movie. I need them both. Immediately.
penelope kitten: it just needs cat ears.
Marcy: Yeah. GIZDA has that for the kittens.
Cynthia (getting greedy): Now I may possibly need this coat to complete my Star Wars Space Girl look. Hmmmm … Possibly maybe.
Marcy and Penelope check out the coat.
Marcy (outraged): Possibly … maybe?
Marcy and penelope kitten: Possibly for sure!
Cynthia: I don’t know, kitties. We may still be sitting on our butts at home hiding from the ‘rona this winter. But the face shields are most def a necessity.
penelope kitten: may the force be with you.
Marcy: Or at least the germs not with you.
penelope kitten: word.
I do the same prep, and have SO many of the same concerns, Cynthia. Now… is this the first time Marcy ever agreed with you on your “must have”? Or am I blurring this with the Ask Marcy column? Or both?
I’m glad I’m not the only one! Doing anything right now takes so much thought. Grrr…
You know, I believe you are correct about this being the first time Marcy agrees with me on a must have!
It is. But I thought of it first so I still maintain my street cred. Plus, you know she’s going to find a way to make something that looks so cool into something that looks incredibly stupid.
That’s cold, Marcy.
Funny though! (Sorry, C!!)
Heh heh heh.
(PS – DYING over “the ‘rona’”) ?
Aren’t they all just AWESOME?!!! Can’t wear ’em til it gets cold though. Unless that BioVYZR has a built in air conditioner. It’s really not that expensive when you think about it.
The heat index today is 110 in Houston so it’s hard to appreciate hoods, vinyl face shields and winter coats. But I do love that coat and I just read that shields are more effective than masks in previnting Rona spread.
Thanks, guys. These are going on my “to buy” list for November.
Yes – definitely only good for cool weather. I think a shield AND a mask are the way to go!
YES! With the BioVyzer, I can now teach back on campus!
Schools should provide these for all professors and teachers!
I must have one of these!!! And, I am loving “blursday.” Definitely stealing that one!!!
The past 4 months have been one single blursday!
Yes – get a spacesuit and we can form a girl group!
