Marcy’s Nine Likes.  Episode 11…

(buying via the affiliate links may result in Marcy and Penelope Kitten getting more treats)

1.  It’s official: Flat suitcase packing is more economical than rolling. (I feel so vindicated!)

2.  Today is Penguin Awareness Day!

3 .  Dingbats. Driving around Los Angeles, I used to think they were ugly. Now I kinda don’t.

4.  Reasonably priced Cat Furniture that looks sleek and sophisticated. Finally.

5.  Ah Ha! So there was a reason people sounded so funny in old movies. It was a totally made up form of speech called the Transatlantic Accent.

6.  ModCloth is carrying a bag that looks very much like a Marcy bag. Very much.

7.  News Flash: Who What Wear fab collection in stores January 31st at Target. As reported by NYC Recessionista.

8.  The prettiest matte red nail polish is by ZOYA.

9.  I’ve recently discovered that I love whiskey. Which means I may just live to be 109. Like this lady!  Cheers!

Those penguin pics are amazing! It looks like they have such a great, happy life. As for the dingbats, I like them but they don’t look like a place I’d like to be in an earthquake. And that 109 year old woman looks great! She hardly has any wrinkles. Maybe I should start drinking some whiskey but I probably couldn’t handle more than a drop.

I think a lot of those dingbats fell during the Northridge quake back in the early ’90’s. Not too sturdy that’s for sure.

I’ve been rolling but will switch to flattening.
The penguins photos were so amazing they must have been Photoshopped.
They’re building single family dingbats all over Houston but with better materials and without the cutesy names in script. Very unattractive and very expensive.
Aaahhh!! The 4o’s accent explained. I had assumed every Hollywood actor had gone to a fancy Northeastern prep school.
Great stuff from Target. Looks like skirts and coats are getting longer.
Thanks for all the fun information. I will now have a sip of whiskey and feel the longevity surging through my veins.

Glad you enjoyed it! Have a shot for me!

I’m with you on the flat packing. Except-will roll dirty laundry for the trip back. I know what you mean about the dingbats, kinda likeable because of the retro factor, never knew that’s what they are called. So, will you be haunting Target in 10 days? Or just stay home with a snootful o’ whiskey? ?

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch January 22, 2016 at 3:27 pm

You know, I may just haunt Target! I am really liking that collection! Wait – can I do both? lol

I had no idea that form of architecture was called a dingbat! LOL I think they’re kind of retro and fabulous. Like the person who lives there dines at a neighborhood soda shop, goes bowling in a custom-made bowling shirt with a name patch, and drives an old Studebaker with dice in the mirror.

And flat packing really does save space?! I’ve been rolling for years to avoid wrinkles and potentially save space. But so many of my clothes come in wrinkle-free fabrics anyways that I guess I’ll try flat packing next time around!

Try it and tell me what you decide! I’ve always been a flat packer and have gotten into silly arguments with roll packers about which is better. LOL Maybe it’s just whatever you like!

Just, ah, roll with it? *ducks*

And here I thought Dingbat was just something people used to call eccentric older ladies! O_o
I’m having trouble getting most of these links to work, BUT that cat furniture thing is amazing! I hope you ordered one! Or maybe you need two? One for Marcy, one for Penelope kitten and maybe Hamlet if she lets him share. 😉
Also, you might need to go buy that ModCloth bag, because OMG CUTENESS!!
I seem to be encouraging a lot of internet shopping here. Dear oh dear. Anyway I am a flat packer too! I realised I pack the way Tetris is played, slotting things into holes made by other things, if you see what I mean – it’s never even occurred to me to roll-pack! I’m high-fiving you and calling you my “flat-pack sistah”! 😉

Woot woot! Another flat packer! Woot!
I wonder why the links aren’t working for you? I double checked them and they seem to be find. Maybe they got lost on their trans atlantic journey! lol

I had no idea what I was clicking on when I went to the dingbat link. These would be awesome in flood prone areas (like where I live). I’ve only ever heard the called drive unders. I like dingbat better!

    The bag is cute!

    I’m a roller. But I can change, I suppose.

I love penguins. Is it even possible to take a bad penguin photo?

    • Reply MarcyVeryMuch January 28, 2016 at 12:55 pm

I don’t think so – penguins are too cute to ever take a bad picture!
A problem with the dingbats is that they collapse in earthquakes. But after that article I do appreciate their aesthetic more. They are disappearing quickly here though which may be why they all of a sudden look cute.
