Penelope has roller skates, pluck, and a movie trailer.

5pm. Marcy and Penelope strut into the apartment with their tails swinging. They are deeply disgruntled.

Cynthia:  So how was The Odyssey?

Marcy:  Grim.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  gloomy.

Marcy:  Gray.

penelope kitten:  too many men.

Marcy:  Too many men wearing sandals. And … get this. No cats!

penelope kitten:  not even one.

Cynthia:  Oh no! It was supposed to be an epic adventure!

Marcy (disgusted):  Odysseus is a crybaby.

Cynthia:  I guess … I’d cry too if I was wearing inappropriate footwear in battle?

penelope kitten (agreeing):  lots of stubbed toes.

Cynthia:  How does The Odyssey compare to your book, PK?

penelope kitten:  my epic adventure is more epic-y. it’s got gumption. and humor. and pluck.

Cynthia:  And roller skates!

penelope kitten:  hey hey, i’m gonna make my own movie. i’m gonna start with the trailer.

Penelope scampers off.  Marcy follows.

Cynthia:  Oh Marcy, are you going to help PK with her movie? That’s so sweet.

Marcy:  No. I’m filing a lawsuit against Christopher Nolan and his costumer. My eyes are permanently scarred from watching two and a half hours of huge man feet in my face. I want compensation.

The next morning Penelope projects her very first trailer onto the apartment courtyard wall.

penelope kitten (squeaking):  volume up for epic sound! and  5 … 4 … 3 …

(silently while gesturing with her paw):  2 … 1 …

In this not-so-tall tale of fur, fins, flippers, and feathers, Penelope must race from Los Angeles to Salem, Massachusetts to stop Hubert, but since she can’t fly, she goes the long way, and sometimes the wrong way. Yet along the way she befriends all kinds of critters, from crazy condors to gung-ho gators to daffy dolphins.
