Debuting at The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books April 18 + 19 Booth 202

 

Penelope Kitten and Cynthia are dancing around the apartment.

penelope kitten (squeaking): we did it! we finished our book!

Cynthia: And just in time to debut at The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books – Booth 202 on April 18 and 19 on the USC Campus!

penelope kitten:  The Old Man and the P is going to be a big hit, i can feel it.

Cynthia (confused):  What? That’s not the name of the book. The name of the book is, Penelope Kitten’s Epic Adventure (with cheese).

penelope kitten:  well you know how my good friend, Scurvy McGurvy, was helping us find typos?

Cynthia: Um … I thought we asked him to stop since he was changing whole passages to insert himself more prominently in the book?

A voice cackles over Penelope Kitten’s CB radio.

“Breaker breaker one-niner. You got your ears on over there in Shaky Town? This here is your good friend over at the Typo Train with another Typo Travesty. Heh heh heh. A little literary levity there. Heh heh heh.”

It’s Scurvy McGurvy, one of the six-toed tom cats who reside at the Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West, Florida.  And who is heavily featured in Penelope’s new book.

penelope kitten: 10-4, good buddy. what monster mistake did you find now?

Cynthia (panicking): There are no monster mistakes or typo travesties! And there is no such thing as a typo train!

Just then the doorbell rings. Cynthia answers it only to find a hedgehog in a leisure suit, a directionally challenged desert sidewinder snake, two juvenile delinquent raccoons, mice with cellphones, and more – all of whom are waving notes with typos, title changes, and character corrections.

Cynthia: No! Just because you all are in the book, doesn’t mean you can change the book.

She slams the door shut as the phone rings.

penelope kitten:  it’s The Three Quacks (also in the book). they want their share of the royalties.

Cynthia: There are no royalties! The book isn’t for sale until April 18 at The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.

penelope kitten:  it’s been for sale on Amazon since April 1st.

Cynthia:  Is this an April Fool’s joke?

penelope kitten:  no no. me and Scurvy published it a few days ago. you’ve already got sales.

Cynthia lunges at the computer to check out her already-published-but-not-supposed-to-be published book,

Penelope Kitten’s Epic Adventure (with cheese).

Penelope’s phone starts beeping.

Cynthia: At least the title is correct.

Penelope kitten:  Patty and Percy, the Prairie Dogs featured on pages 134 – 155, want to be included in the press tour. they have a list of what they would like in their green room pu pu platters.

Cynthia (scanning the book):  But why are there so many typos?

penelope kitten:  also …

Cynthia:  What?!

penelope kitten:  they have a list of typos.
