Penelope’s Sunshine Express

Penelope helps out the frozen felines of 2019. …

January, 2019. A sunny Southern California day.

Cynthia looks out the window and is startled to see Penelope Kitten swiping at the air with a fishing net.

Cynthia:  Hey, P? Watcha doing?

penelope kitten (squeaking):  catching sunshine.

She swipes at the air.

penelope kitten: putting it in a box.

Cynthia (puzzled):  Why?

penelope kitten:  gotta send my polar frozen puddy cat pals some SoCal sun. they’re v cold.

Penelope kitten swipes at the air.

Cynthia:  Awww … what a sweet gesture.

penelope kitten (proudly):  got five boxes filled already.

Marcy saunters in while Cynthia looks into Penelope’s boxes, addressed to Detroit, Chicago, Des Moines, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis.

Cynthia (whispering to Marcy):  These boxes are empty.

Marcy:  Duh.

Cynthia (panicking):  What do we do? We can’t send her freezing feline friends empty boxes? They’ll think she’s being mean. Or … gasp … snarky!

Marcy:  So?

Cynthia:  Yeah, well … they’d expect that from you. But, not from our Penelope.

Marcy: Fine. Whatever.

Marcy looks out the window.

Marcy:  Hey, P! I Marie Kondo’d the sunshine, using her space saving folding technique. How’s about I add some fleece blankets and a bottle of Vitamin D to the boxes?

penelope kitten (squeaking):  good idea!

Penelope kitten swipes at the air with her fishing net.

penelope kitten:  send priority mail, please.

Marcy:  Will do.

Cynthia (suspicious):  That was … sweet … of you.

Marcy: Yeah well. I’m not taking any chances. Those cold cats are mad mad mad and seriously regretting their choices right now. Cats are originally from Egypt, you know. Believe me, you don’t want to mess with a bunch of polar frozen cats. Revenge is best served cold. Even I know that.

Marcy and Cynthia pack up Penelope’s sunshine (along with some fleece blankets and Vitamin D) and hope the cats and their hoomans survive the Polar Freeze of 2019.

*Stay warm, Kittens!

Awwwwwww!!! This is just the sweetest thing ever!!
(Don’t worry, Marcy — we won’t tell anyone you’re being nice.)

If you don’t mind me posting this link, here’s some tips Polar Freeze tips from the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals: https://heavy.com/news/2019/01/pet-animal-safety-winter-help-strays/

(Not that I think anyone who reads this blog needs it. We’re the sort who would think of our kittehs and puppehs first, and wrapping them up nice and toasty before taking care of ourselves!)

Thank you for the tips, Lady K! Alwaaaaaaaays needed and appreciated!
I fear Marcy was only being nice to avoid getting attacked later on. Not sure we can count that on her very short “nice” list. Ah well…

This is so sweet! It brought a tear to my eye. I have a kitty friend in Milwaukee who has found a new true love…The radiator!

Radiator + cat + polar vortex = love.
      Love it!

I’m worried about all the outdoor animals up north. What a brutal few days it has been. Humans can find some sort of refuge but what does a rabbit or a deer do?
