Cynthia: Marcy and I are so thrilled to announce our very first donation to animal rescue with money we earned from affiliate links on our blog!
Marcy: Hmpf. It was only $50.
Cynthia: Hey! That’s fantastic! That’s what we made and it sure helped out a couple of cats.
Marcy: Hmpf. I wanted that money to go towards my trip to Paris.
Cynthia: Oh Marcy. Look who we helped get out of a bad situation and into a new home!

Lily and Baxter |
Cynthia: That’s Lily and Baxter. Word got to our friend, Dylan Kendall, that they were losing their home immediately and were headed to the high kill North Central Shelter in Los Angeles. They wouldn’t stand a chance there since they weren’t kittens. And, even if they weren’t put down, the possibility of this bonded pair staying together was next to nil.
A new home was needed fast, as well as money for transportation and vaccines. Time was of the essence.
Dylan was able to get the cats before they entered the shelter but quickly discovered they were in bad shape and needed vet care too. Lily was way too skinny.

Lily is too skinny |
Marcy: Gasp! That’s terrible!
Cynthia: And Baxter had a painful abscess that needed to be taken care of. Poor Baxter was miserable.

Baxter not feeling well |
Marcy (shuddering): I hate those cones. They should be outlawed.
Cynthia: Our $50 along with other small donations from sweet Samaritans got them fixed up and spiffy. And being fixed up and spiffy means that a home is way easier to find.
Marcy (anxiously): And was a home found?
Cynthia: Yes! And with a family that will take great care of them. A wonderful family that won’t forget to feed them or let abscesses fester.
Marcy: Yay!
Cynthia: Shall we?
Marcy lifts her Friskies can and Cynthia raises her martini glass.
Marcy and Cynthia: Cheers to our wonderful readers who not only don’t mind the affiliate links, they click on them to make purchases which in turn goes to save cats!
Cheers to Dylan Kendall for putting in the hard and emotional work to save Baxter and Lily!
Cheers to all the sweet Samaritans who donated a little to create a BIG difference for two cats!
Cynthia: By the way, one of the reasons I was so frantic about Baxter and Lily was because they reminded me so much of a bonded pair that live in my home – Penelope Kitten and her best bud, Hamlet.

Marcy: Ugh. Those two.
Cynthia: Hamlet wants to be on the blog too, you know.
Marcy: Fine. He can be my unpaid intern. He’ll fetch me Friskies, pick up my dry cleaning, and do my social media tasks.
Cynthia: Uh… unpaid internships are illegal in the United States of America.
Marcy: Yeah, but not in the United States of Marcy.

Cynthia: Woot Woot! Look at this, Marcy! Our friend and fellow cat rescuer, Dylan Kendall, got her Efeet Collection into Bed, Bath And Beyond.
Marcy: That is so rad.
Cynthia: I know! I can’t believe it was just last year that we were promoting her Kickstarter campaign for her Paw Footed Bowls. And now look, her wonderful work is in Bed, Bath, and Beyond – in several Florida locations and online here.

Marcy: Dylan deserves it. I love my bowl.
Cynthia: Oh, I know. And she works so hard. Managing a business operation while you are also the creative force is tough. It’s not for the faint of heart that’s for sure.
Marcy: Wait. Why are there tomatoes in my bowl?
Cynthia (excitedly): Gosh, I just love it when my friends succeed at something they are so passionate about and work so hard to achieve. It doesn’t always happen but when it does I get sooooooo happy! Woot Woot!
Marcy (loudly): THERE ARE TOMATOES IN MY PAW FOOTED BOWL.
Cynthia: Oh. Sorry. Friskies wasn’t photogenic enough.
Marcy: Gasp.

Cynthia: Oh wow! I had no idea. Today is National Cat Day, Marcy.
Marcy: I thought every day was National Cat Day. If it’s not, it should be.
Cynthia: And look, if you live in Seattle, San Francisco, or New York, you can have a kitten delivered to your office for 15 minutes of playtime. Uber teamed up with Cheezburger and the ASPCA for this event to celebrate National Cat Day.
Marcy: Sometimes I wonder if you are even speaking English.
Cynthia: The $20 you pay goes to a local shelter and the kittens are brought to you by a shelter volunteer. This is such great idea. The kittens get valuable playtime and exposure to people who may want to adopt them. The shelters get some money. And the office workers get to de-stress. They should do this every day!

OH! And cupcakes come with the kittens – from Ace of Cakes.
Kittens AND Cupcakes! Perfect!
Marcy: Wait, kittens?! I thought I told you never to trust a kitten.
Cynthia: Oh, Marcy. Really now.
Marcy: Kittens are sneaky. They push their way into your hearts and then they take over the house. They eat your food, hoard the sunspots, and whap us adult cats on the head. Look at Penelope Kitten.
Marcy: There she is. Sitting in the cat-grass plant that Hamlet and Scooter are trying to eat. It’s an outrage the way kittens just take over and turn you humans into drooling piles of mush.
Cynthia (drooling): Sooooo cute!
Marcy: Ugh. Wake me up when it’s over.
Marcy stalks off to claim her sunspot.
*The kittens in the pic above are indeed looking for their forever homes. They are spayed/neutered, litter boxed trained, have all the necessary shots, and are sweet and friendly and awesome. They were rescued by the wonderful Dylan of Dylan Kendall Home Accessories. Please contact me if interested in adopting a kitten. Or two. Or three.
Cynthia: Just a reminder to everyone interested in Dylan Kendall Home Accessories’s Paw Footed Bowls, that the Indiegogo campaign ends this Thursday. October 10th at 11:59pm (Pacific Time).
A donation for every bowl sold goes to either Stray Cat Alliance or Hope For Paws – two wonderful 501c3 animal rescue groups in Los Angeles.
The bowls are great for cats.

Marcy got her own bowl and I got our other kitties the smallest ones for their wet food. Although I cannot guarantee that I won’t steal them for myself.
Marcy: You would steal from a cat, Cindy? How selfish.
Cynthia: Well, you already stole from me!
Marcy: Yeah, what?
Cynthia: My heart.
Marcy: Oh, Gawd! I feel a hairball coming up!

Paw Footed Bowls by Dylan Kendall Home Accessories |
Cynthia: Just adorable! Dylan, of Dylan Kendall Home Accessories, is doing an Indiegogo campaign to bring her Paw Footed Bowls to market. Just in time for the holiday season.
She is also giving a donation from every bowl sold to two wonderful rescue organizations here in Los Angeles. Hope For Paws and Stray Cat Alliance. Love! Love! Love!
The bowls are great for a cat or dog’s digestion since they are raised off the ground. This eliminates severe spine curvature while eating and diminishes bloating. Better posture also means less stress on the joints. And, since they are made from a premium non toxic stoneware that does not contain lead or cadmium, they are super safe. Non-toxic and non-porous. So no harboring of bacteria like plastic bowls.
Dylan Kendall is famous for her Footed Bowls line – the Efeet Collection. See here…

Marcy: Hmpf… I really don’t care about those rugrats. They better not come with my new bowl or they will be IN my new bowl as a snack.
Cynthia: Marcy! Not necessary!
Marcy: I would look SO great eating snacks out of a Paw Footed Bowl. I could have live salmon filet in the Tiny Bowl … live mouse burger in the Medium Cat Bowl …live turkey pie in the Dog Bowl …
Cynthia: Marcy! Yuck. Stop it.
Marcy: What? I was just saying they would be even more delicious in a Paw Footed Bowl.
Cynthia: I am going to get you one. Calm down. Do you want your name inscribed in it too?
Marcy: Yes. No one is allowed to eat out of my bowl! Especially this one. He looks like trouble.

Marcy: And these ones. I don’t trust them. Never trust a kitten. They’re pushy. And you people are pushovers for them.

*We have a Dylan Kendall Footed Bowl and just love it!
So do the cats. But – I couldn’t get a good picture of one of our cats eating out of the bowl because they are temperamental modeling subjects and would not stay still. Especially Marcy. And, I am not a good photographer. Examples:

Marcy: That is not my best side, Cindy. You’re fired. Where’s my agent? I need to review my contract.
Cynthia: Marcy, if you want your own Paw Footed Bowl, you need to let me use this pic.
Marcy: I WANT A BOWL.
Cynthia: Great. I just ordered it!
*So – in a nutshell – If you are needing a cat (or two or three) and live near Los Angeles adopt one of these cutie-pie kittens. I mean really – who doesn’t need a cat? Everyone needs a cat!
