penelope kitten |
Cynthia is in the kitchen dishing out Friskies as Marcy eagerly watches.
Just as Cynthia puts down the food and leaves, Penelope Kitten rushes into the kitchen.
penelope kitten: phone call. it’s for you.
Marcy: I’m about to eat. Tell them to call me back.
penelope kitten: can’t. long distance.
Marcy: So.
penelope kitten: from paris.
Marcy perks up.
Marcy: There’s a phone call from … Paris? For me?
penelope kitten: yeah yeah. says his name is pierre.
Marcy starts speaking French.
Marcy: Gasp! Pierre de Paris? Oui?
penelope kitten: we we.
Marcy: Mon Dieu!
penelope kitten: says he read your blog. thinks you’re chic. wants you to model with Henri at the eiffel tower.
Marcy: Moi et Henri Le Chat Noir en Paris?
Marcy races off to the other room and picks up the telephone.
Marcy: Bonjour. Ce est parlar, Marcy.
Silence.
Marcy: Allo? … Allo? … Meow? … Allo? … Allo?
Marcy confusedly hangs up and heads back to the kitchen.
Marcy: Hey Penelope! Did Pierre –
Marcy stops cold as she sees Penelope Kitten with a face full of Friskies.
penelope kitten: april fools! ha ha.
Penelope Kitten scampers off with a belly full of Marcy’s Friskies.
Marcy (seething): Little sisters should be outlawed.

Cats in Clothes by Heather Mattoon an exhibitor at LA Feline Film Festival |
Cynthia: Only that I will be covering both at the LA Feline Film Festival this Sunday at Exposition Park.
I can’t wait to see all the cat outfits on the Cat Walk at 6:55pm. And, I get to interview Lil Bub and her “Dude”. Woo hoo!

Lil Bub Celebrity Guest at LA Feline Film Festival |
Marcy: You’re going to meet Lil Bub?
Cynthia: Yes. Are you sure you don’t want to come with me, Marcy? You could ask Lil Bub how she got so famous. Maybe she could give you some pointers.
Marcy: I don’t need pointers from her. She’s not a cat.
Cynthia: Ummm… Yes she is.
Marcy: No. She’s not.
Cynthia: Yes. She is.
Marcy stares at Cindy and whips her tail back and forth.
Marcy: Then why – after all these years – does she still have those cute kitten features you humans go gaga over?
Cynthia: Because she has genetic mutations that make her a “perma-kitten.” Plus, she’s a dwarf kitty which means her legs are shorter than her body.
Marcy: Right. And she doesn’t have teeth and can’t jump or meow.
Cynthia: That’s right. And she’s got extra toes on each paw as well as opposable thumbs on her front paws.
Marcy: SHE HAS OPPOSABLE THUMBS AND YOU STILL THINK SHE’S A CAT?
Cynthia looks confused.
Marcy: OPPOSABLE THUMBS, CINDY. OPPOSABLE THUMBS.
Cynthia: Oh. You’re just jealous.
Marcy: Hmpf…
Cynthia: Besides, Lil Bub and cat fashion, the LA Feline Film Festival will also have music by Pink Nylon, Bullet Made Statues, Alex Nestor, Lucy Langlas, and Tarra Layne.
There will be cat art, cat supply vendors, cat adoptions, comedy by Kate Aagesen, and a Q&A by Will Bradon of Henri Le Chat Noir.

Henri by Pamela Baron Designs an exhibitor at LA Feline Film Festival |
Marcy: Gasp. My French boyfriend, Henri Le Chat Noir, is going to be there too?
Cynthia: No. Just his filmmaker. I think Henri hates other cats and cat fanatics as much as you do.
Marcy: Sigh… he’s sooooo dreamy and soooooo French.
