Marcy Sells Out (for animal rescue)

Enamel Topaz and Black Pet Paw Heart Necklace by The Magic Zoo

Cynthia:  The Magic Zoo is a group of artisans in the United States that hand craft animal jewelry. From dogs and cats, to hedgehogs, to manatees, to penguins –

Marcy (interrupting):  Hey! What’s with all the Amazon links? And an Amazon store on our header bar? So you’re money grubbing now?

Cynthia:  What? No!!

Marcy:  Looks like you’ve hopped on the gravy train.

Cynthia:  Marcy! Stop it. That’s not what this is about. Blogging isn’t entirely free and if I can cover those costs as well as raise money for animal rescue through the occasional affiliate link and a permanent Amazon store, then isn’t that just wonderful?

Marcy: How much have you made so far?

Cynthia (proudly):  $30.85

Marcy (snickering):  Okay, Daddy Warbucks, at that rate you’ll change the world.

Cynthia:  In animal rescue, every dollar matters. Seriously. You can buy pet food, contribute towards a vet bill, pay for gas for transportation, and much more. So even our little $30.85 is extremely valuable. Plus, for the Amazon store, I am only showcasing adorable cat things that are Made In The USA.

Marcy:  Will we have heavy handed sales tactics? Infomercials? Blinking ads that yell?

Cynthia:  No. Of course not. We’ll continue to do what we are doing now. If we think our readers might like something, we’ll let them know. We won’t promote anything we wouldn’t want ourselves. And we’ll do it sporadically. It will still be the same blog. So what do you say?

Marcy:  Hmmm… How many cans of Friskies will $30.85 buy?

Cynthia:  Seventy-seven.

Marcy:  Gasp!

Marcy is speechless and wide-eyed.

Cynthia:  Ah ha. So now you think this is a great idea.

Marcy:  Gasp!  We’re rich!

Cynthia:  Seventy-seven cans of Friskies will feed a feral cat colony of four for almost three weeks. A TNR’d (spayed/neutered) cat colony, of course!

*Please note: This post contains an affiliate link and I will make a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking on my link.
**A percentage of any money I make from Marcy Very Much will go to 501c3 cat rescue groups such as The Kris Kelly Foundation and Stray Cat Alliance. I will be transparent about this as it develops.

Wild Thing, I Think I Love You: National Feral Cat Day Is Today

Cynthia:  Marcy, today is the day that we honor Feral Cats and the wonderful people who help them – those tireless people who do TNR (Trap/Neuter/Return) and maintain TNR’d cat colonies.

And – celebrate that you are not living in the streets.

Marcy:  Whatever.

Cynthia:  Hmpf. I expected a little more enthusiasm from you.

Marcy:  Yeah, why.

Cynthia:  Because. You are not eeking out a paw to mouth existence, prone to disease and injury, having litter after litter because you aren’t spayed.

You are living in a cozy house with a warm bed, human friends, and all the Friskies you can eat. Show a little appreciation. Show some compassion for those kitties out there not as fortunate as you.

Marcy yawns.

Cynthia:  Show some humanity for those kitties who didn’t ask to be living in the streets but through no fault of their own –

Marcy (interrupting):  Humanity? It was humanity that put my species in this position in the first place.

Cynthia:  Now you’re talking!

Marcy:  Yeah, well this is how I show my appreciation.

Marcy stalks off to the sunspot in the living room. She curls up with her longtime buddy, Scooter, and takes a 2 hour nap. Later, they watch the world – and the feral cats in it – go by.

Cynthia:  That’ll work too.

*A big kitty shout out to organizations like FixNation, The Kris Kelly Foundation, Alley Cat Allies, Stray Cat Alliance, Vox Felina, and Kitten Rescue that work their butts off in trying to alleviate kitty suffering and reducing the feral cat cat population through humane strategies.

*Since 2007, FixNation has spayed/neutered over 80,000  feral cats in Los Angeles! Their service for ferals is free! Thank you, FixNation! I don’t know what Los Angeles would do without you!

*And, because it is so wonderful, I am reposting Jackson Galaxy’s 50 second PSA about Feral Cats.

Cynthia:  Just a reminder to everyone interested in Dylan Kendall Home Accessories’s Paw Footed Bowls, that the Indiegogo campaign ends this Thursday. October 10th at 11:59pm (Pacific Time).

And for people.

Dylan Kendall Paw Footed Kitten Bowls

Marcy got her own bowl and I got our other kitties the smallest ones for their wet food. Although I cannot guarantee that I won’t steal them for myself.

Marcy:  You would steal from a cat, Cindy? How selfish.

Cynthia:  Well, you already stole from me!

Marcy:  Yeah, what?

Cynthia:  My heart.

Marcy:  Oh, Gawd! I feel a hairball coming up!

Cuter Than Cute: Paw Footed Bowls by Dylan Kendall Home Accessories

Marcy:  Cindy! I must have a Paw Footed Bowl! I must.

Paw Footed Bowls by Dylan Kendall Home Accessories

Cynthia:  Just adorable! Dylan, of Dylan Kendall Home Accessories, is doing an Indiegogo campaign to bring her Paw Footed Bowls to market. Just in time for the holiday season.

She is also giving a donation from every bowl sold to two wonderful rescue organizations here in Los Angeles. Hope For Paws and Stray Cat Alliance. Love! Love! Love!

The bowls are great for a cat or dog’s digestion since they are raised off the ground. This eliminates severe spine curvature while eating and diminishes bloating. Better posture also means less stress on the joints. And, since they are made from a premium non toxic stoneware that does not contain lead or cadmium, they are super safe. Non-toxic and non-porous. So no harboring of bacteria like plastic bowls.

Dylan Kendall is famous for her Footed Bowls line – the Efeet Collection. See here…

Cynthia:  Dylan is also an incredible and compassionate cat advocate and cat rescuer. All of the kittens in this post are up for adoption. They come spayed/neutered/updated on shots/FIV negative/healthy. Here’s a close up of Dylan and two adoptable cutie-pie cats.

Marcy:  Hmpf… I really don’t care about those rugrats. They better not come with my new bowl or they will be IN my new bowl as a snack.

Cynthia:  Marcy! Not necessary!

Marcy:  I would look SO great eating snacks out of a Paw Footed Bowl. I could have live salmon filet in the Tiny Bowl … live mouse burger in the Medium Cat Bowl …live turkey pie in the Dog Bowl …

Cynthia:  Marcy! Yuck. Stop it.

Marcy:  What? I was just saying they would be even more delicious in a Paw Footed Bowl.

Cynthia:  I am going to get you one. Calm down. Do you want your name inscribed in it too?

Marcy:  Yes. No one is allowed to eat out of my bowl! Especially this one. He looks like trouble.

Cynthia:  Actually, he looks a little like you.

Marcy:  And these ones. I don’t trust them. Never trust a kitten. They’re pushy. And you people are pushovers for them.

Kittens Up For Adoption

Cynthia:  Oh don’t be so selfish, Marcy. They are soooo sweet!!!

*We have a Dylan Kendall Footed Bowl and just love it!

So do the cats. But – I couldn’t get a good picture of one of our cats eating out of the bowl because they are temperamental modeling subjects and would not stay still. Especially Marcy. And, I am not a good photographer. Examples:

Scooter and a Footed Bowl

Marcy:  Is that Scooter Cat? How dare you? This is my blog!

Marcy:  That is not my best side, Cindy. You’re fired. Where’s my agent? I need to review my contract.

Cynthia:  Marcy, if you want your own Paw Footed Bowl, you need to let me use this pic.

Marcy:  I WANT A BOWL.

Cynthia:  Great. I just ordered it!

*So – in a nutshell – If you are needing a cat (or two or three) and live near Los Angeles adopt one of these cutie-pie kittens. I mean really – who doesn’t need a cat? Everyone needs a cat!

*If you are interested in some Paw Footed Bowls – for you, your cats, or your dogs – and live anywhere in the world please check out Dylan’s page on Indiegogo.
