Cynthia, Marcy, and Tabby Cat Hamlet are searching for Penelope Kitten. She’s been missing for over an hour.
Cynthia (calling): Penelopeeeee… Penelopeeeee… where are you…? Penelopeeee….
Tabby Cat Hamlet finally finds Penelope Kitten hiding under the bed covers.
Hamlet: Awwww… P… what are you doing?
penelope kitten: hiding.
Hamlet: From what?
penelope kitten: leprechauns.
Hamlet: Why are you hiding from leprechauns?
penelope kitten: not wearing green. don’t wanna get pinched. it hurts. it’s not nice.

Hamlet: Oh, Penelope. Leprechauns don’t exist. That’s a superstition – same as saying black cats are bad luck.
penelope kitten: no. no. totes true. got pinched five times already.
Hamlet: Really?
penelope kitten: yeah yeah. they’re out there.
Just then Marcy struts into the bedroom.
Marcy: So did you find her?
Hamlet realizes what’s going on. He pushes the covers back over Penelope.
Hamlet (innocently): Nope.
Marcy: Too bad.
Pause.
Hamlet (nonchalantly): Hey Marcy! I notice … you aren’t wearing green today.
They lock eyes for a moment.
Marcy suddenly bolts away with Hamlet in hot pursuit.
penelope kitten (from under the covers): leprechauns are super scary.
Hamlet returns with a four leaf clover.
Hamlet: Here ya go, P. Put this on your head for the rest of the day.

Aww! I love that Hamlet is finally making an appearance on the blog! He's so cute, looking after Penelope and bringing her a lucky clover. You can tell him from me, I'm wearing my green jeans today, so I am safe from the likes of him!
Yay for green jeans! Now I want some green jeans!

Yay!! Hammy to the rescue!! He is such a sweet boy and those pics of Penels are amaze!! (just thought I would continue in the totes vein). 🙂

Darn you young 'uns…I had to look up totes in the urban dictionary.
I'm putting on green so mean kitty Margaret doesn't get any ideas about impersonating a leprechaun. She loves trying new ways to torture me. Thanks, Marcy.
you're welcome.

Did Penelope and Hamlet arrive together, is that why they are buds? You had mentioned in an earlier post that not everyone in Catland at your house gets along. Or is there just ONE cat that doesn't get along with anyone else? ( No names mentioned, to protect the innocent).
Hahaha! Yes – it' all Marcy's fault that we do not have kitty harmony in the house. She hates Hamlet and goes in for the kill every time she sees him so he is kept separate from her.
We found Hamlet abandoned in our neighborhood a few years ago. He literally jumped in my lap when we saw him on the street.
Penelope was part of a litter of kittens from a TNR project I was working on. We got all of the kittens adopted except her.
She bonded with Hamlet and it worked out great – now Hamlet has a cat buddy. And Marcy has her old buddy, Scooter.
Still though – it seems a little crazy and sometimes I wonder at our sanity for having four cats and having to keep them separate in twos.
Our hope is to get our own place soon – that we can catify – and hopefully try to work it out between them. But sometimes I wonder if that is wishful thinking!
Btw, I do not shy away from the crazy cat lady label. I realize I have earned it with this situation. lololol

Awwww. Poor Kitty. And poor Jazzy. We play this pinching game with her called "flea bag." lol It's not kind. Usually we can't even pinch her, but she chases our snapping fingers as we ask, "Jazzy, is that a flea?!". I think she's much more cat than she appears. She'll bat our hands away and pant and make scary breathy noises in her excitement. I sound crazy, don't I? lol I never thought to change it up for St. Patrick's Day and send the leprechauns after her. I assume the point of this post was to shower Penelope with empathy, and instead I am plotting new ways to torture my dog. Thanks, even if it wasn't your intention. lol

Oh no – I can't stop laughing! Jazzy sounds like a sweet nut! But aren't all of our pets sweet nuts in some way or another. Anyway, Penelope gets so much empathy she doesn't need any more. lol

She is so beautiful! If she had green eyes she would have been fine. It's hard to tell, but does she have yellow eyes?
I read that the Bombay breed has yellow eyes and are closely related to the Burmese. Our black cat has yellow eyes and fits all of the characteristics of a Bombay like how social they are and attention seeking also.
We found all of this out after naming him Dr. Bombay.
Have a nice evening,
Stacey
Yes – she does have yellow eyes! I never thought to check if she might be part Bombay. I'll have to look it up. I do know that her mom was a tortie and her dad was a black cat. The whole colony we TNR'd was either a tortie or a black cat. She's very social around me and Freddy but is scared of everybody else. She's also kind of bossy. More so than Marcy actually.
Thanks for the info!
